I hardly use it, so I didn't think of that! Here I was thinking the TS got out a pen and paper and marked a tally each time they reset. Dx
Okay, so, mine says I've played it 779 times, and I'm guessing that's each time I've opened it? Pretty sure a nice chunk of it is resets, though. It overtook my previously most played game which I've played 371 times. My my.

;-; I found my perfect map yesterday... I tried to find it since release date too (June 14)...
...But last time I checked my activity log (one week ago) I had opened the game... 1400+ times.
I did have some towns I played in for one or two days each, most of them lasted only half an hour though... I also used the reset-for-villagers trick.
Still... Ha ha... Ha ha...

But I love my layout now. I really really do.
I'm happy for you as well, I really know what it feels like to click through that dialog with Rover so. Many. Times.

Some people that hunt shiny Pokemon starters on the games reset like 15000 times, it's insane... Good job though!

I found my perfect town with only 11 resets while you found yours with 440...
Shiny PKMN Starters are WAY harder than a perfect town, though ^

I've reset a couple of times on launch day when I first started the game. It took a few tries, but I finally got want I wanted... Round grass (the triangle grass pattern creates lines with the lighter color grass - at least to my eyes), Apples as native fruit (perfect apples look amazing), a windy river that spills into the ocean south, long beach to the east, short beach to the south, Re-Tail to the north of town, the Town Hall and Plaza next to each other in the northern part of town, a secluded spot for my house by both the beach and water fall, decent rock placement, and just one pond.
Definitely do not settle. A lot of time and creativity goes into this game - so find your perfect town (within reason) before you start!

Same. I was disappointed I didn't have any cats, but I liked the layout so much I decided it wasn't worth resetting and losing it.

I got a near-perfect layout without any resetting! town hall and re-tail are right next to each other, the town plaza is in the middle, my winding river is further to the south of my map and empties into the ocean on the southern edge, both of my beaches have entrances, I only have one pond which is right by Re-tail, and I could spot a perfect place for a lighthouse and for my police station right away. Even though this game IS about creativity, I think it's also good to make due with what you get and find creative ways to make use of the space you're given. I'll admit, though, I got lucky. xD

I reset 115 times, but I also done it over 2 days, but I knew the layout I wanted so I reset whenever it wasn't in the 4 maps Rover had, and only checked fruit/grass otherwise.

Oh my... I just went with the 3rd town layout I was offered. I definitely couldn't have waited over a month to play. I think of all the good times I've had in my village and you've just been resetting the whole time... O__O
x__x Oh my goodness, your patience is amazing. I've had the game since launch and I was frustrated a few weeks ago because of the layout of my town. I couldn't figure out a way to path to make it look pretty, and my brother's town seems to have a perfect layout, down to his villagers' houses being aligned so perfectly. Everywhere I wanted to put a public works project there was a rock or a pond in the way. >_< But I'm getting there! I didn't want to reset as I had wonderful neighbors to start with, so I just played the hand I was dealt. .-. Guhuh.
