I work on a piece for several hours... I charge about 7€ (5,5 pounds) per hour... With enough to draw, it's not too far off. Of course, I can draw more than just a mayor~!
I also have a few summer collectibles or a cherry.

Those much better artists are underpricing their work then. The ability to make art is an accquired skill with thousands of hours of learning and trying. In a way, just like any university degree. A studied engineer won't write your paper for just a few bucks either. Artists who don't know to respect their work are bringing down other artists with them by lowering the respect for art in general, making it seem like a picture would cost only a few dollars - that would set the artist's wage way, way below minimum wage (which I am asking). Even professional artists (which I am not) sometimes get job offers where all they would get in return is "exposure" or a few bucks. Of course any serious artist shouldn't and wouldn't accept such bs:ing.
