2nd level fish vs 3rd level fish?

Currently designing my island and I plan to make a 2 level waterfall which would go from 3rd level all the way to first. At the same time, I want to make my island fully playable meaning I can get everything available. Would I be missing out on any fish if I do not have any second level water?

There are 4 fish that only spawn in the cliffs, but it doesn't matter if it's 2nd or 3rd level.

These are

• Cherry Salmon
• Char
• Golden Trout
• Stringfish.

These were all available in March if I am not mistaken. If you caught them all and donated already, you should be able to ignore setting up rivers in the cliffs.

afaik no

"clifftop" fish can appear on any level (apart from level 1 lol) at the same rate from my experience so you should be good to go. I caught every fish catchable in March and I'm pretty sure I never even went up to the 3rd level to go fishing

I think every Island is different.. I've caught rare fish on my 2nd level that I've never seen on the 3rd level and I've caught rare fish on the 3rd level that I've never seen on the 2nd...

Iv'e caught all but the Golden Trout so far...

Cherry Salmon (caught on both 2nd and 3rd)
Char (3rd)
Stringfish (2nd)
Golden Trout (no luck so far)

Lakes and Waterfalls are no longer a thing it seems. From what I can tell, the fish locations are

• River
• River - Clifftop
• River - Mouth
• Pond
• Ocean
• Ocean - Pier

I don’t believe you can make a waterfall that goes straight down two levels.

Just a note: you can still get the Golden Trout this month! It will be available until May. I caught one a couple of days ago!
