Hard to believe it, but yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of Wild World's release! And in 11 days, we'll be hitting 20 years in the US release.

As the first handheld Animal Crossing title, it opened up the series to many people and allowed us to play it anywhere and everywhere. It also introduced online play. While possessing the smallest map and possessing a severe lack of festivals/holidays, I still hold fond memories of my time with the game.

I do hope the next Animal Crossing game brings back the "episodes" present in Wild World and City Folk. It was fun and interesting receiving lore tidbits involving the various characters. We need more of that!

Though Wild World turned 20 this year, next year the series as a whole turns 25. We'll what, if anything Nintendo has planned then.

Very late reply!

Wild World was my first AC game, and while the lack of major events and limitations for multiplayer make me question how I spent so much time on it growing up, I tend to forget what made that installation unique such as the episodes or the more evolved villager hobbies and dialogue.

It always gives me so much joy revisiting my WW copy, I still have the first town I made when I was a kid, so is a small time capsule,
I did learn to appreciate the so many features that NH got and makes the experience way more immersive, yet WW is so much fun even tho sometimes I have to fill the blanks with my imagination, what I don't have to RP are the dialogues and attitudes of those villagers LOL, PD I can't believe Phyllis isn't anymore on the franchise , I mean I understand, since she used to make me anxious as a kid, but as an adult I find her hilarious !
