1800's town theme - need ideas!

For paths, I'd suggest something like stone with grass showing through, though it would get tedious having to change it every season.
And for villagers I really don't know.. wolves would be good?
Actually, if you choose a pattern with all the seasons, all you need to do is replace each piece carefully with the same piece from the new season into your inventory. It automatically replaces every tile in town with the new one for you. Cuts down the work dramatically.

well aware of this! but i'd rather not have to do that, considering grass colour changes a lot. it isn't just with the seasons i think

Just get a bunch of classy villagers like Becky. Make the human houses look classy and have classy exterior, find brown old looking paths and idk contrast it with flowers or gray water or something. Abuse the pwps that do fit the theme like the lamppost. Gl. also be sure to have alot of detail in your paths i guess? like alot of different patterns to keep it interesting so if you get really dark brown stuff it stays interesting

Id be real interested to see it when its done though :o sorry for the messy typing im tired

Also you should be more loose with the villagers. If theres a fitting villager use it >:o its all about the theme man. Get out of your comfort zone. you also come up with new ideas to fit your villagers like maybe becky inspires yuo to have an outside cinema

I have alot of villagers im planning to get in my apocalyptic town im gonna have to learn to love. like i dont like chrissy but havinng her there will be so ironic like shes nuts or some **** that ill love her. Im also gonna have ricky there but hes kinda hobo so that fits. and astrid looks hella nuts too so u get what im sayan?

i was checking becky out, i might replace pinky with her :o
yeah i'm working on the exteriors right now haha, gettin' fancy. and yeah brown brick paths are the way to go, i found a really nice dark water path that i'll probably use but right now i'm using this bright blue one. hmhmmhm

yeah no i understand! it's just ahhhh, idk :( i like having my sweethearts in my town. i already gave up having kitty, and she and i go way back. she's that one villager i must have, but merrrrr. she and olivia have too much in common so i said buh-bye :(

so far, villagers that i want/have that fit the bill are: sterling, vic, pietro (like the jester/mime kinda character ya feel?), lionel, and olivia. i just got rolf simply because i love him, i wish i could make him more fancy ~_~ he might end up getting replaced in the late future. apollo isn't medieval, but there's something about bald eagles that seem very elegant to me. so he i might keep IF i end up getting him.

oh and thank you for this! :) i'll let ya know when my town is finished haha

I think that an excellent Public Work Project for this kind of town is the fountain you get in the beginning. I am trying to make somewhat of a horror town and I put the fountain in the center of town, like in the universal classics such as Frankenstein. In my opinion, a fountain in the center of town brings me back to some of the older days, such that you could have that more Victorian feeling emanating from the center outward.

actually i agree and i have placed two fountains in my town! both have a square...walkway thing around them, kind of like a town square? like the plaza except with a fountain not tree. one is in front of the town hall, and the other is in front of the cafe while villagers live on opposite sides idk how to explain it haha

I might go with Celia or Tia for normal, Claudia, Diana, Monique (I know she isn't the most attractive...) or Kitty for Snooty, and Erik for Lazy.

A for the town, I think that that metal benches, cobblestone/fairytale bridges, (statue) fountains, and topiaries would be good.

This is really cool idea. Good luck with everything.

  • How about making some side characters who'd be peasants? You could put pots in their house and make it quite small and homely. Then you could make side characters who are paupers and part of royalty.
  • If you change the train station/town hall, I think that the Zen style will fit the theme best.
  • You could make some farms around the town with scarecrows, baskets of fruit/bamboo and more.
  • These PWPs might be fitting for the the town (click on them for pictures): rack of rice, water well, water pump, windmill.

I hope some of these suggestions will be useful to you.

nah, tia maybe but not the others. i really want to bring kitty back into my game, she's one of my favourite characters. but at the moment, olivia has replaced her :/ ugh

yup, gonna be using those!

i like the idea of peasants :o i currently have a princess slash mayor aka me, and a pub+bakery owner in the making
i'll probably make two peasants.
and yes, i'll be upgraded the town hall and station to the zen hall/station. the fairy tale ones are pretty, but they're too colourful.
i've been thinking about making a farm actually! in one corner of my town we have the retail, two ponds, and then down the way is a nice chunk of land that fits 4-5 homes perfectly. that could be peasantville and the farm area i guess haha.

thank you!

well, paths should obviously be brick...
doing the house would be pretty easy...

for the outside, I suggest for a bridge, maybe the Japanese style one, and PWPs.... uhhh.... i got nothin'
