alright i've been trying to get some ppl to help me with designing my town but
people are so used to cutesy towns that they don't know how to help me with mine
i'm trying to make my town have an 1800's middle-earth/elizabethan feel
i say 1800's because i want the appeal of the fancy posh british things but i still want some sort of technology
it's quite difficult considering there aren't many good pwps for this
i also want to have villagers that kind of got that "knight" and "queen" vibe, you know what i mean?
right now out of the villagers i kind of want to keep, i have olivia and beau
ahhhhh this is so difficult why must everything be cute

post some ideas and pictures and stuff please ; n ;
or come visit my town and help me with placements and stuff idk
oh! if you guys have any path recommendations let me know :)

update: i already have a wishlist thread, but i'm going to be posting a link to my soon-to-be-updated wishlist here as well incase you guys want to help donate to my town. every bit helps, and this means a lot to me. thank you so much!
once my town is complete, i'll let all of you visit since you all contributed c:

well off the top of my head villagers that might fit your theme are
-knox and/or sterling (knights)
-colton (he looks like a prince to me lol)

and you could have houses with different themes, like one could be the king/queen's castle, one could be a pub, etc.
as for PWPs the more natural looking ones would probably look nice.

oh my! i think i'm gonna try to get either knox or sterling, or heck maybe both
i don't really like the chickens though oh man i feel so conflicted
i don't like any of the horses so i'm going to pass on colton but you're right, he looks like your clich? prince charming haha

hm yeah i was thinking about doing that. gonna need to do a lot of planning u_u

oooo! what about vic the bull? he's kind of like a viking, oh my oh my

I would also submit Chops and Queenie as a lord and lady. (:

If you need to look at the PWPs to help decide:

http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/Public_Works_Projects

Though you probably knew that .... -.-''

definitely not, i'm going more on appearance. if i'm not going to be satisfied with how the animal looks i don't want it because it'd just bother me, ya feel?
i was thinking of getting lionel as a "king" kind of like "king of beasts" and also, he looks pretty posh
and his home is also very nice, it's got gorgeous and rococo furniture which is what i'd be swapping most of the villagers items with anyways haha

and yeah i know all of the pwps, which is why i'm having trouble
idk what to use :/

ooo, klaus might be nice to have :o i shall consider him! he kinda scares me though ahhh ;__;

Wouldn't call myself an expert but I can help I guess. As for villagers I'd recommend the following:
Cranky: Elvis
Lazy: Elmer(just cuz of the shirt)
Jock: Sterling(although he's more dark ages than elizabethan)
Smug: Beardo, Chops, Colton
Normal: Rhonda(only one that was close)
Snooty: Gloria
Uchi: Pashmina? (idk)

-_- gave it my best shot

actually, elvis looks good!
like i said above, i don't like any of the horses :(
i had rhonda before and couldn't stand her

i'm actually considering sterling, if i can find him that'd be great. thank you so much :3

No problem. Glad I could help

P.S. I looked it up for reference and the Elizabethan era was 1558-1603 according to Wikipedia.

yeah i know but i don't wanna go way far back ~_~ because then i'd be limiting myself to not using any of the street lights and stuff. but like, outfit wise, elizabethan style. celtic, too actually

pwps
- stone tablet
- zen bell
- metal bench
- brick, fairytale or wooden bridge
- water well
- tulip topiary
- wisteria trellis
- water pump
- windmill
- stonehenge

For paths, I'd suggest something like stone with grass showing through, though it would get tedious having to change it every season.
And for villagers I really don't know.. wolves would be good?

i'm actually going to be using those, idk about the metal bench tho. wooden bridge for sure!
also not a fan of the tulip topiary, but i may end up using it or the other ones for sure.

yeah i'm trying to avoid paths with grass, i don't want to worry about changing it throughout the seasons.
but i have a nice brown brick path with autumn leaves, and a brown brick path with snow.
those are the only ones i use throughout season changes, and they don't look ugly thankfully
i'm currently using these http://pixelroses.tumblr.com/

and i'm considering fang because he looks... noble, and sleek. idk there's just something about him that i like.
i think i've got a good villager selection rn
sterling (knight), lionel (king), pietro (clown/mime/jester), vic (viking), beardo (idk)
still need some more but i really want genji, apollo, kitty and pinky in my town simply because i have loved them for years but i want more medieval villagers ughughushgosijghsgpjesg

Messed up this post -_-

Beardo can just be a noble of the town :D

haha sorry for confusing you!
and very true! :D

I'm a little confused by what you want your theme to be since knights and queens aren't really a 19th century thing to me. That's way back, it's like a middle ages type of a thing imo
When I think of the 19th century I think of the Industrial Revolution and railroads. I doubt that's what you want for your town though XD

But after reading through some of this thread I see that you want to use streetlights, which is why you're making it 1800s. I think it would be fine if you put lampposts into an elizabethan theme, but that's just my opinion (there would be a train and other historical inaccuracies so it wouldn't really matter anyway if there are lights). ^^

Not sure if you'll like this idea since it's not really what this thread is about, but you could maybe do an 1800s British society/countryside type of thing..? (yeah I know that's not what you're asking for ideas on but just hear me out lol) Because another thing I think of with the 1800s is Pride and Prejudice. So just like fancy ladies and gentlemen in the countryside with wealthy nobility and pretty gardens and cute cottages and big expensive houses and whatnot. Some cute villagers could be "dainty" looking female ones like Diana, Tia, Celia, Gayle, Gala, etc. And "gentlemanly" villagers like Lionel, Colton, Beardo, Fang, etc. Then for PWPs there could be tons of topiaries, flower arches, wisteria trellises, metal benches, picnic basket, street lamp, water well, water pump, statue fountains, flower beds, windmill. And of course lots of flowers and pretty gardens! Then you could also have big fancy houses and cute, smaller cottages c:

But with more of a knights and queens theme, you could possibly go with Drago? I know he's sort of on the mythical side of things, but that could be cute ^^
And you could use Colton for that too, since I personally think he looks very princely and noble.

Anyway, good luck with your town! I hope that was at least somewhat helpful, even though it's not really what you asked for help on heh, sorry

Oh and natural dirt paths would look lovely with your theme c:

yeah i know rereading it i'm like "dang it, shouuuuulllld have put more information that's vague af and misleading" LOL

i was considering that as well! ahhh it's just i'm a huge lotr fan and my town is named erebor so i sort of wanted to follow that and base my town off of dale, mirkwood and bree. but i really like that idea, i'll probably end up fusing the two of them.

i was going over some of the other villagers and i considered drago, since he's basically a dragon. if i can't fill up the rest of my town i'm definitely going to hunt for him :) give him his own little area in my town, too haha. and colton has been mentioned a few times already, i do not like any of the horses. i do agree that he looks like a noble and clich? prince charming, but i would get really annoyed by him so i would rather not :/

no it was very helpful! thank you so much! :)

Definitely a cobblestone path like these:

^Source for those

For PWP I suggest:

Waterwell.png
Flower_arch.png
S58_Statue_Fountain.png
PWP-WaterPump.png
Wisteria_Trellis.png
PWP-Stone_Tablet_model.png

Villagers I suggest:

Vic, who has an 1800's pirate themed house
Noruman%27s_house.jpg

Olivia, with a regal style house
044.jpg

Diana, with her posh rococo-esque bathhouse
Natari%27s_house.jpg

Beardo, of course! With a very "Cambridge scholar" type house
Beado%27s_house.jpg

Chops, who has a rococo house and is dressed like a British captain
Tonfan's_house.jpg

Drago, with an old-fashioned Chinese house (1800's victorian era also makes me think of the Silk Road and Asia)
Tatsuo%27s_house.jpg

Maybe Tia, since she looks like an antique teapot?
Tia%27s_Roomz.jpg

Rhonda as your Uchi? Her house has regal furniture (the stepladder is not original)
Inside_Rhonda%27s_House.jpg

Obviously lots of roses for your town, white and black especially, also carnations. Those flowers seem the most "victorian" to me. I'd also go with holly bushes and azaleas as opposed to the more cutesy hydrangeas.

Hope that helps!!

oh wow! thank you for taking the time to gather all of that :) i actually have that path saved onto my computer, once my town is all finished i'm going to try it out and see how it looks! it's so lovely and crisp

yep, i'm definitely using those pwps! for some reason, i don't want to use the metal bench. but out of the other benches, it's the best one. well even the wood bench is nice but idk!! ahhh i'll figure that part out later. (definitely gonna use some logs)

vic, drago and tia are actually on my dream list! (well, drago and tia aren't. they're kind of last resorts haha) i already have olivia. her home is wonderful and she also has that snobby princess look to her, i love it! one of my friends is holding diana for me, idk if i want her back tho. must admit, her house is gorgeous. and chops has a lovely house too, perfect for my town but i don't like the pigs. he'd bother me too much, just like the horses.

i'm gonna be buying loooots of holly bushes for sure. but i do not like the azalea bushes, never have. i prefer the hydrangeas. i'll see how it goes :) i'm currently using pink and golden roses. once i get my hands on more white and black ones, i'll plop them everywhere. gotta use what i got so far!

thank you very much for the help!
