16 Villager cycle?

Has the 16 villager cycle worked for anyone to get their villager back? Is it just a myth? and if it actually works, does anybody know of a good guide or any tips? Thanks! I just lost Lobo and Im super sad and I'm willing to cycle if I can get him back I just was wondering if it was false hope?

I honestly have no idea, I've cycled out more than 16 villagers now since I lost Diana and I still haven't gotten her back lol

Thats not very reassuring

But I went to a friend's town recently and she didn't remember me, so it probably has worked, I'd just have to go to someone else's town and get her when she's in boxes

it has worked! once they cycle out of your main street they'll be able to move back into your town or show up in your campsite etc. luckily i've managed to get a few villagers back that way. but yes it works!

Wow how lucky! Is it also true that if you see past villagers in the shop area those villagers are still going through the 16 villager cycle?

I believe so, I've never cycled out 16 villagers before but it has for others.

This is exactly how it works. Once you have cycled through 16 villagers the game will remove them from the memory, so at that point they will stop appearing in main street and you will be able to get them again. Note that your 17th villager will still be random, so you'll have to pick him up from another town at that point if you want them back quickly.

It has worked with me. I had Tom accidentally move out awhile ago and 16 move-outs later and he was able to come back to my town.

It's not a myth. Once a villager leaves you get 16 other villagers to leave and then you can move that villager back in. They don't automatically show up which is what you seem to thinking.
