It's based on how much people want to pay for it. People will buy TBT with in game bells, or sell TBT for in game bells. Stitches is a very popular villager and ranks #4 on the Tier list. Since he's very very popular and in T1, you could probably get anywhere from 200-300TBT for him easily.

Many people on the forums do not trade in-game-bells (IGB) because it's just easier to use TBT and dropping off that many bells is a pain. So, honestly imo i think it would be better for you to sell stitches for TBT if you intend on continuing to use the forums if you can't get one of your dreamies for him. This way, even if you can't get one of your dreamies now, you'll be able to purchase one from someone else with the large amount of TBT you get from selling stitches.
