I am offering anyone 10 tbt to answer this question:

If I am on my 3ds and I put an old DS game such as pokemon diamond in it.. can I use pokebank and transfer those pokemon to the newer games?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Diamond works with Pokebank.

I believe you can only use a gen 5 pokemon game and transfer box 1 via using Poke Tranporter.

No. You need to transfer them to pokemon Black/White 2 and use another software to load them on your 3DS. At that point, you can transfer them to pokebank.
