It's all on preference. Personally, I myself, do not touch my flame red regular 3DS anymore. It gets minimal attention. I think I use it only to play my Streetpass games and pokemon B/W 2 at times. Or when it's late at night and I don't want a big screen in my face, since it will hurt if it falls lol
The game looks good on both systems, but since I plan on playing with wifi friends, I like my XL more since it also means a technical larger keyboard for typing. I also have small hands, very child like, but my XL's have never felt "too big" for me. And my regular 3DS actually have me hand cramps, even with tiny hands.
I'm also a person who hates to get rid of electronics or trade in stuff. But, I had to trade in my midnight purple 3ds to be able to get my pink/White XL. I don't regret it one bit. And there's no "blurring" like when the DSi and DSi XL were compared back in those days. The game looks just as smooth on an XL than it does on the regular 3DS ^^
