Well if Star Fire meant it as her finding the eyes cute then it's okay as that is the meaning of kawaii. The desu is a part you can add if you want. If I remember correctly, desu doesn't really mean anything..and if Star used the word because of the sparkliness of the eyes..that's okay too...
