  • haha good luck! I can definitely relate to crying with frustration about it but it does get better, now that I'm used to the interface it makes a lot of sense and is easy to use :-]
oh okay you do it like this:
right click on an empty space in the tool box.
choose watercol (or watercolor brush or whatever it's called)
then you have a default watercolor brush. click on it, look down and you will see the settings (blending, dilution etc) (if you can't see it, click on the + advanced). pick the settings from kyukon and start drawing! :D if you double click on the tool, you can give it shortcuts and rename it too
do you mean those brushes in the tool box? or do you mean custom brushes in form of textures etc?
Don't worry, you just started with the program ;) I'd be so lost in Gimp, lol
oh and if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask (or just comment right there on dA). It might be a little confusing here or there because she made it quick xD
oh I just remembered, Beige is your fave artist, right? I asked her for an hair shading tutorial on dA, if you like I can link it for you? C:
Hey Money Hunter, you asked for my PS smudge settings so here they are!

    Smudge Brush Size: 10px
    -SHAPE DYNAMICS-
    Size Jitter: 80%
    Roundness Jitter: 50%
    Minimum Roundness: 25%
    -SCATTERING-
    Scatter: 40% | Count: 1
    -TRANSFER-
Strength Jitter: 30% | Control: Pen Pressure
    -SMOOTHING BOX CHECKED-

Pretty lengthy, haha, since Photoshop has a lot of options but it looks good! Ask me if anything's confusing :-]
(This is what I used for the Kirito banner, by the way. For any other smudge settings, I always get them from deviantART)

And I actually only use default brushes for smudging! I'm not too big on downloading brushes at all, so 99% of my smudging is done with the hard circle brush. You know what I'm talking about, right? If not I can take a screenshot of it for you :-]
