Mine are always on Main Street. You'll see them in the shops and even in Club LOL, but never anywhere else.

I thought it was really cute to get the letter asking me to dig up the capsule. It's a nice touch.

How long does it take for someone to show up on main street (like, at what point of the cycle?) I was thinking about it today and I realized a lot of villagers that moved out ages ago aren't showing up.

Harvest Festival, even though it sounds like it takes a lot of time. I've done Festivale and April Fool's in my TT town, and they're really fun! Festivale takes a long time by yourself unless you're really lucky, so I'm sure the boards will be blowing up with people wanting to make trades.

I had two villagers, Gaston and then Ozzie, move in within a couple days of each other (one from spotpass and one from the camsite) and within a couple weeks Ozzie, who moved in last, pinged me and said he wanted to leave. I only talked to him once to introduce myself and ignored him after.

When I did my paths I chopped down most of my trees and scattered my flowers everywhere, and my town looked bad for a little, but once you have your paths down and new trees planted it fixes itself pretty easily. Also, unless you plan on keeping all your villagers forever, leave some room for...

I think it's mostly how they look. It's sort of like how Marshal and Julian have huge fan followings, but not so much other smug villagers.
