Just try to think of anything you are passionate about. Are there any topics that you feel strongly about that you want other people to be more aware of? For me as an example it's animal agriculture and mental illnesses
I think theres nothing wrong with writing about carefree things though :) It's a nice thing because if you're always writing about angst and stuff you'll end up feeling like the stereotypical writer, ammirite? xD
lol I know how you feel, I used to write fanfics before and I cringed at my own work so hard, I just would never complete any of them. Even if people demanded more i'd be like "what do you mean this is trashhhh." If it helps, just try to think of a message you want to convey to your readers. Ask yourself this: Do you want to create a story that will reach people temporarily by having a great plot but no depth; or do you want to leave the reader with a message or a question, that will make them actually think and may spark conversation thats outside of character deaths and romances.
I've had great prior stories that I started writing and would love, but the problem I realized is that, it was just a great story and that was it. It will be fazed in and out and later forgotten. I wanted and my goal is, to write something that will be taken seriously, an example of this can be the hunger games and the underlying messages it had towards politics, social standings, reality, etc.
My minor is going to be something in the english field. I want to work on my writing more before I fully write my whole novel due to my control not being the best. I need to understand grammar better, in my schooling I was hardly taught it, and just how to convey things easier; i've been told my diction is great but my control in writing isn't at the same standard.

What about you? What do you plan on writing? :) Books? Poems? Plays? Any ideas so far?

End ((Sorry again for the long messages and sloppyness all around. I tend to do that, especially when responding while on my phone.))
