If you go to the crafting section and try to make the item without the proper amount of materials, it will ask if you want to buy the remaining materials with leaf tickets.

Same. Even when a villager does give me some it's 2 or 3 and it's very rare. Having doubts I'll be able to craft the 300-candy cane items before the end of the month.
