{ Your Animal Death Official Thread Waring SAD }

The one that comes to my mind first was a gerbil I used to care for that... just one day decided to jump up against the top of the fish tank I kept him in and bonk his own head. Over and over, constantly. For days. Until he brained himself on something.

I thought it was odd behavior, sure, but I didn't think it was actually anything dangerous until I found his body one morning.

The saddest pet death for me was our tuexedo cat, Niles. All throughout his life he was a badass. He literally "ran" the neighborhood, cat-wise. He would always fight the other cats and whenever they saw him, they'd take off running. Hell, it wasn't even just cats, it was dogs as well. He literally wasn't scared of A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G. I remember once when he was on the front porch, these 2 pit bulls come on our yard and Niles just jumps up and gets SO big. He ran up to those dogs and slapped them both in the face and they ran off. Oh and he could slap pretty hard, too. He was very muscular. His weight would make someone think he was fat, but he was all muscle. He hated being touched anywhere but is head, but only for a little bit. When he's sick of you he'll just bite you, with his huge canines.

The poor guy got a tumor in his throat and we did everything we could to get rid of it but it just wasn't enough. In the last month of his life, his cancer rapidly changed him. One of his eyes was messed up (I don't know how that happened), and he would scratch his neck a lot and that ended up poking a hole in it and he bled everywhere. As he got sicker and sicker, he cleaned less and less. His tumor had gotten so big that it started to affect his breathing and eating. His meow slowly slowly got fainter and fainter as the days went by. You could just hear him struggling to breathe, it was so sad. The last weekend of his life was the worst. He wouldn't do anything but just sit there with the 'deer in the headlights' look. It made me cry so many times. I couldn't look at him without crying really really hard. It was heart breaking seeing him like this when, just months before he was acting like his old self. I knew his time was coming when he came and sat in my lap and just purred (something he NEVER did with me). He knew he was going and I guess he was saying goodbye. He had gotten so skinny and frail. And he was so filthy. He died the morning of October 21, 2012. I'll never forget it, either. He lived 12 good years as a badass.

R.I.P Niles <3

I once owned a pet fennec fox. I paid $1200 for it out of my savings. My grandfather's wife disapproved of me having him, although I loved him very much. One day I came home from school and I found him dead out on the screen porch. She told me she poisoned him, because foxes are disgusting animals, and I don't deserve a pet.

I hate that woman. Haven't spoken to her in almost 10 years.

Yeah I'm not exaggerating, the woman was really ****ing evil.

Yeah I'm just going to leave this here and go play ACNL now.
You had a fennec fox? So cool!
She sounds awful. >.<

my fish died and then i had sushi for dinner

You're awful ;.;

My first dog,Herbie the Schnauzer, got kicked by a donkey in the head. I wasn't there when he died. I had only had him for 3yrs. I remember when I told him to go into his cage and he ran straight into the door...

when I was little I had this lil kitten who I named chubblets on the account he was chubby lil thing
I loved this lil guy so much he followed me everywhere and would sleep next to me every night.

one day me and my bro and his friend were playin a game of hide and go seek, I was it so my bro and his friend go
off to hide while I'm counting on the porch of my bro's friend's place I hear a mew and I look down there is my kitten looking up at me I was goin' to get him and pick him up but I was in the middle of a game, so I motioned him to leave,

that was a very bad mistake which I was soon to find out, I forgot my bro's friend's dog was outside as well on a leash, I then hear a shrill cry I turn around quickly, the dog has my kitten in it's mouth thrashing it around like it was nothing but a rag doll, I couldn;t move or speak all I could do was stand there in shock and fear as my lil chubblets was being mauled in front of my eyes,

I eventually let out a scream which caused my folks and my bro's friends mother to come out and stop the dog but it was too late my kitten was dead..I still hate myself for not doin' anything why didn't I just pick him up when I saw him, if I did then, that would have never happened and he would have lived a bit longer...but no I was stupid so very stupid.

My dog bit my sister and my parents called in the pound people and they battled my dog and took her away and it was sad.

Gah, sorry to hear it... Can't get down on yourself for not thinking of it at the time, though. It's not like we all have strategy guides to life while we're living it.

My partner's got a story like that, although interestingly enough, the sight messed him up so bad that he still remembers it as "a nutcracker soldier came up out of nowhere and poked my dog 'till he stopped moving." Which he admits makes no sense at all, but he can describe what the nutcracker design looks like and everything, and no matter what his parents told him about the bigger dog involved, he doesn't remember a thing to the contrary. Or maybe his brain just refuses to remember... He really did care for that dog.

Me and my cousin were cleaning the fish tank and as we scooped out the fish one jumped out if the net and my cousin took a step and you can guess what happens next ヽ(?o`;I never let my cousin near my pets again after that.

I don't think they were, they were just pain meds. They should've put him to sleep right then and there, though.
The should of that's so cruel

What ****ing a ***** D:<

My first dog died march 9 2011.

I'm not going to go into the details here as they are fairly personal but I posted about it on a forum I used to frequent the night after. Everyone called me a jerk for caring more about my dog than the people that died in the Japanese tsunami that hit a few hours after I posted.

Completely serious. The Nintendo 3DS forums are a cold, cold place.

Holy hell that is awful you are not a jerk in anyway for being sad over the death of your dog

And you had no way of knowing that it would die on the same day when the Tsunami hit which was also a sad event but still that dog of your's was family and you must have loved him/her dearly

One time, my family was driving somewhere and we were on this road with a lot of country houses on it. We were going pretty fast (probably 10 over the limit, because who doesn't), and a dog ran right in front of our car from nowhere. We hit it and kept driving even though we saw the family on the lawn. It was really sad and the big "CLUNK" from hitting it didn't help, but in the end, it was actually pretty funny. It sucks to know that we probably killed a dog that was dear to some girl's heart. She is probably as messed up in the head as a lot of you people on the forum are now.

Trundle you killed one of her dreamies!

No but seriously. Let's see...When I was four, we had to put down my black lab because he was too old and suffering too much.

My dog Nicky was a stray chihuahua my mom picked up. He was my dog; bonded the most with me.. followed me and slept with me.
Well he has obviously been hit by a car sometime in his life.. the poor baby had a visual hernia but he was never sickly.
So I went out with my dad for the day like I used too; when I came home my mom had taken my dog to the family vet. This was on a friday.
I had my mom call about my dog everyday and got no response, come monday I was told that no one had been in over the weekend and when they arrived on monday he was dead. With no explanation what happened or why he was sick.
I was so furious with our vet; he had been our family vet for years even before I was born.. and he just left a kennel full of sick animals without anyone to check up on them.

Long years later, same vet; was also the demise of another family pet. Thankfully he has retired and someone new taken his place.
