proposing a 1% tax on all video games and consoles to fund rehab programs for juvenile criminals. He didn't directly connect games and violence, but since he's proposing this bill, he must be making the connection in his head, and therefore trying to charge tons of people more money for games (it'd come out to an extra $.50 per game, $2.50 for a Wii, etc.)... point is, this is just outrageous.

This is totally stupid. Why not charge taxes on cigarettes and use them for the same purpose? Some people take Jack Thompson too seriously.

They actually just added an extra $1 tax on all cigarettes last month, and a bunch of angry people were on the news... yet this was just a really small story. <_<

Huh... you just gave me a sweet idea for an article. But anyway, yeah, I find this pretty stupid, as I mentioned. The connection between games and domestic violence is exaggerated way too often.

That's because of the entertainment factor the news has. They show what will get more ratings.

Taxes are so high around here fifty cents on a Wii game would be nothing. >_<
I know, along with gas and all of that. This is probably the last thing we will need.

This is laughable really =o

Take away from the good kids to stop the bad? Oh and not to mention that video games aren't just for kids anymore.
