I agree with a lot of these suggestions. More themes, more cultural stuff (as someone who's town is called Paris, I would love more French themed stuff), more interactivity. I'd love to have stuff that looks more Medieval/Fantasy (not the Fairy-Tale stuff, but Lord of the Rings or Inheritance Cycle fantasy stuff), along with stuff that looks more Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece, Victorian/Edwardian, etc. More sculptures/statues would be cool.
I'd love to be able to put some stuff on the beach. Wouldn't it be cool to have picnic blankets on the beach, or umbrellas, or towels where villagers and the mayor can bask in the sun (another way to tan?), or some outdoor showers, or a rack of surfboards? Maybe even some wrecked ships, or a beached rowboat.
Of course, interactive pwps are always fun. Swings that we can swing on (or even just sit on), merry go rounds, and slides. One thing that is kind of out there, but I think would be adorable, is something that's been popping up around my city lately; small outdoor libraries. Basically, a little outdoor cabinet that has books people can take. There's been some adorable ones; there's one shaped like a house, another I've seen is shaped like a teapot, someone else just put up one that looks like a cat. It would be fun to hear villagers talk about the books they got from it, or ones they left for others to read.
