I only keep four of them: The axe, shovel, net, and rod IIRC. I probably don't need the axe though.

I always keep mine in my letters in a certain order. I keep all the tools because you never know when that mysterious bug or fish is going to show up! I was caught once without a net and let a tarantula get away, never again.
I especially make sure to carry the slingshot because if you go inside to get it the balloon will disappear and I'm still working on my badge
