Actually no, trying to use the - button to save and quit in a dream island just brings up the report feature. I keep instinctively doing it and having to be careful not to wrongly report someone! So you do have to go all the way back to the bed every time.

I know this won’t help OP now since you’ve already time traveled ahead, but if you have more than one character on your island you can talk to the villager with that character and tell them not to move, even if you already told them to on your first character! They’ll change their mind and stay.
