Ah yes, my wording was a bit off. At the part of the trailer right before all the characters are on the beach and the release date appears, we can see them on the beach running northeast. During the fade/scene change, it's visible that the higher parts (the non-dark green parts) are cut off...
If I'm correct in my assumption that cedar trees only/more likely appear on the higher up level, then it is the light green highest part that you can see during the winter part of the trailer.
Additionally, at the end of the trailer we can see that the highest level does go 'flat' on the side...

I've read the article and it doesn't exactly talk about time traveling much, it certainly doesn't state that it is banned.
They say that there are no cloud saves to avoid time manipulating because 'time' as a concept is essential to Animal Crossing.

Personally I think it will stay as a New Leaf only thing. Together with the whole you're-the-mayor thing, those were the two key features for New Leaf.

Animal Crossing is supposed to be relaxing, cloud saves would be a great peace of mind to make sure hours of work aren't lost.

I'm pretty sure we will get an AC direct. However, I have no clue as to when it would take place. Personally I'd prefer towards the end of this year to keep us updated on how the game is progressing but early 2020 seems just as plausible.
I already saw my favorite accessory in the trailer (bandage!) so I'm happy! The fact that there's new clothing models is great though. I wonder how much of it will be available when designing patterns, being able to pick between different kinds of dresses, etc will allow for a lot of customization!

During the Treehouse stream they confirmed that the mode shown is for people who actually "live" on the same switch. Regular local and online multiplayer between multiple devices still exists!
I'm very glad about this news seeing as how I won't be able to play PC anymore soon due to it being banned in my country, I wouldn't want to miss out. I'll probably miss some collab items but it is what it is, I guess.
Oh, that's interesting! I haven't booted up my copy of NL in a while (sorry, Isabelle...) so I probably forgot about it! Though I faintly recall them only talking about it to me when outside, not when inside their house. But that might just be because I never had that opportunity pop up.
