🐟 Seaside Shack 🎣

Recently, I've been spending every minute of my ACNH game play working towards catching critters to complete my nook miles point cards. But what to do with all this fish?! Thanks to the help of the boys of the fishing village we were able to cook up a scrumptious seafood banquet for the whole family to enjoy! I can't believe I spent 2 hours trying to catch 2 tiger prawns...

🐞 June Bug-Off 🐛
Today was the Bug-Off! It's been a while since I participated in one of these. I was already in the middle of grinding bugs to complete my nook miles point card, so I thought it would be nice to join my villagers in the fun. I only ended up playing a few rounds but I did manage to catch around 200 bugs today to bring my current total to 3000/5000 bugs. I also finally got 300 points to get the gold trophy (wow I guess I really didn't play much). I spent the rest of the afternoon taking photos of my villagers and setting up a snacks stall for them.

My favourite part of any tourney is taking photos of my villagers all dressed up in their sportswear and little hats. I love how Dizzy's wearing his explorer shirt! If I remember correctly, that's a shirt that I gifted him. So I guess it counts as sportswear, same with Scoot's explorer hat. Maybe I'll send them all fishing waders for the next fishing tourney.

I wonder why this game refused to let villagers successfully catch a bug. They must feel like such failures.
For the tourney the beaches are basically my hunting grounds because that's where I dumped all my flowers from my last island remodel. Maybe my villagers also gravitate towards the beaches during tourneys for the same reason. I don't use white flowers anywhere on my island but I like keeping some around to catch orchid mantis. These few flowers usually spawn 1-2 of them each time I make a full circle around the map and I like to farm them for the bells. Ken and Tasha seem to have gotten the sneakiness down... but she was a little too close and whacked Ken's chicken feet. Good effort.

So on my quest to complete my 5000 bug/fish point cards I decided to make this little station by my pier that had easy access to a workbench and storage. Usually I'd start off by running up and down the whole east beach strip and catch whatever bugs/fish/clams I could find. Then after I gathered up some clams I would head off to the Kappn' island for a change of scenery. So while today was mostly dedicated to catching bugs, I couldn't resist sneaking off to craft bait after farming clam farts and ended up reeling in a hundred fish or so during the tourney as well. Hamphrey, one of the residents in the fishing village, seemed to approve of the new spot!

She returns home briefly to check on her machines. Scoot and Hamphrey’s little feets chase a butterfly.

I normally don't like leaving a whole bunch of food items out as permanent decoration unless it's a fruit stall or a cup of coffee. It's a bit silly, but it bothers me to see them get rained on all the time (it's the same reason why I don't like leaving books out unless they can be slightly covered). So events are the perfect time for me to bust out a fun little temporary display for my villagers to enjoy. Homemade with love, some salads, baked goods, and bingsu for my villagers to snack on during breaks! And of course I got a mixer going with healthy carrot juice to keep hydrated (ew).

Ah… look at that agrias butterfly manically flapping its disgusting wings over the Big Lake without a care in the world.

I'm not a big fan of the prize items so I usually stop after I've gotten at least one new bug to add to beach town's dirty district. The Bug-Off might be over but I still have around 2000 more creepy crawlies to catch and 1000 more to go for fish. My rep's arm muscles are so jacked by now that I could probably javelin throw Scoot to a neighbouring island. My point card grinding is going to have to be delayed for a while, as well as any longer journal entries and general play time. Tomorrow I'm finally flying off to Malaysia to see my best friend! And then a week later I'll be visiting my mom in Korea for a month. I still have some saved screenshots I want to post from HHP so I might continue regular updates to this journal, but I'll most likely be chilling. Thanks for reading and happy bug-off~ 🐝

🎈 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BOY DIZZY! 🎈
It’s been a busy month for me, traveling and meeting up with old friends and family. I still manage to play some ACNH every night as it has become a sort of nightly routine for me to fall asleep, although I’ve been too lazy to update my journal which is why it’s been a while since my last post. But I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to post about Dizzy’s birthday celebrations on his special day! Ken was his birthday buddy this year! I didn’t have a whole lot of time to decorate his front lawn, but I managed to perfectly time and capture this photo of my balloon delivery with his present in it… hehe. Afterwards I took Dizzy out to the toy shop and told him to buy whatever he wanted. Happiest birthday Dizzy and stay forever baby 🎂

🦌 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIK!!!🎈

I like to think these five are besties because they were the very first 5 villagers to move to Tansan. They experienced the hardship of poorly decorated starter houses together. So naturally they threw Erik a surprise birthday pie-ty! Looking forward to spending many more birthdays with this group of cuties. Happy birthday Erik 🎂

I'm finally back after a month long trip home to Korea to visit my mom and grandma! It's been 4 years since I was back... 10 years since I actually lived there. It made me sad to think that the next time I return could be another 4 or more years. I've always internally debated about where I wanted to settle down, as it seems like I was moving around every 4-5 years. After finally feeling comfortable with my current life, even with the curveball of the pandemic, my trip back home made me reconsider moving back.

I hadn't gone on my island those last few days I was in Korea, but I finally logged on at the airport. It was comforting seeing my in-game mom's monthly letter and present because it seemed to coincide perfectly with saying goodbye to my real mom. So much of Tansan is modelled after my memories of home, so it's nice to return to "my version of home" before I make any life changing decisions! Now that I'm back I'm going to try to continue posting daily photo posts and journals. For now, here's some snaps I took of areas of Tansan that are inspired by "home".
