Your opinion of a good forum

I'm thinking about making a forum, but I always end up making it kinda cheesy. Can you guys list some examples for some ideas for things, and maybe some section ideas?

Edit: Please suggest some names, cause I suck at that too.

Half of it is the actual forum itself, features, skins etc. The other half are the people there, staff and members...

Main thing: Hard work.

You can't make a forum or anything over night and expect it to be good, you'll have to spend months on it.
