Assuming that we can choose when to move in new Villagers, how would you ideally schedule new move-ins on your Island:
Will you try to reach full capacity as quickly as possible or want to space them out over time?

Additionally, what about player characters?
Are you planning on adding more than one? If so, how many and when?

For myself, I'm likely going to draw out the move-ins for quite a while. My current plan is to leave it at the starting two Animals for at least a week, and then gradually increase up to 5 (where I'll leave it for a longer duration while my Island is growing). I really want to experience the Island "wild" before developing everything and populating it.

I'm definitely making more than one player character (ca. 5 eventually), but won't be adding more than the second until summer at the earliest. I don't like having dummy characters that I don't use, so once I make a new one I play them for a while to get to figure out what they're about.

I would like to take it slowly if possible! I like to plan my town while it's more empty c:
Maybe 1/week unless I find a dreamie

I'm just gonna let them move in natural as the game intends it while I explore the Nook Miles tickets islands, and invite those villagers if I like them.

I'd like to unlock the essentials early on, but don't want to rush my move-ins.

I have the amiibo cards for most of the villagers I want, but would like time to landscape and figure out where I want my community of villagers to go.

I eventually want to add three more characters once things are planned out, and unlocked.

With such power, I may never invite anyone in LOL.

I was always a fan of the start of the game having a small amount. 10 villagers is overwhelming. Especially when they plop their house wherever they want. Maybe since I can place the houses myself, it will be a lot nicer.

I'm not sure I'll have a "schedule" for move-ins. I think I'd like to keep things a bit wild, like you said. And then I'll see who wants to move in. I dunno. I've always played AC pretty "loosey goosey" - I never plot reset or did paths - but with the new landscaping and easy paths and items outside I think I'd like to do some more in-depth designing.

As for player characters - well its a bit complicated - I will have two switches. The lite (which is mine for now, but will mostly be my boyfriends once I get the ACNH switch) and the ACNH switch. So I will have MY character on the ACNH switch, and a character for my BF on there as well. But I will also have a second island and character(s) on the lite - that island will be mostly for resources, and may be the opposite hemisphere if the mood strikes me.

Whatever feels right. Kind of want to focus on planning out the town first and then, expect the occasional move in just so everything is in proper order. :)

I?m going to draw out everything slow this time. Since there probably won?t be a lot to trade at the beginning, it will be harder to build up my houses. I plan to maybe have around 6 players in the island. At first, I?ll just stay at one player for a while, just to get going, and build my catalog. Then once my catalog is ok, maybe I?ll add a second player, and so on. I know what I?m naming them and their themes will be, but I won?t build their houses unless I have the items I need for their house. I don?t want empty houses.
If it?s possible I will also move in the villagers slowly. Maybe just 4 for the first couple of months and so on.

Ahh man idk I love animal villagers! So I will probably cram mine full of critters immediately lmao. Maybe not all ten but I will be stoked to get neighbors quickly. :)

As for other human players... I'm not sure I will even make one! Maybe probably eventually. I finally feel like I should make another human character on ACNL (after 6 years) because I ran out of room to put crap and also I just kind of need to fill in some space aha.
I'd trade in my 8 humans for 8 more animals if I could >;

I voted as quickly as possible but that’s only for a third villager. After that, I’ll add them at a leisurely pace, whenever I feel like it.

I definitely want to start the game off slow and space out my move-ins, and just take my time planning out my island in general, I suppose. But overall, whatever feels right at the time. :)

I'd like to have like 2-3 days inbetween, at least for the first 80% of villagers. It also depends on how quickly they move out, because I'd rather just get them in and out then to have them take the spot of another possible villager.

Whenever I create polls I end up regretting something about the phrasing and wishing I could change it.

To clarify: obviously most of us will end up doing what feels right in the moment. The idea behind the poll was to get a feel for people's preferred pacing and have "what feels right" be a third option for those who currently have no opinion on their preferences yet.

I hope that word wasn't too misleading. Really I'm just talking about the pace you see yourself going at, not a strict plan to follow or anything.

I'm curious why specifically a third villager?sounds like there's some plan/story there!

I'd like to get 2 or 3 more villagers rather quickly so the island doesn't look so empty. The rest of however many we are allowed to have can move in slowly over time.
As for additional human residents..I probably will not create any

Because I?m eager to buy a plot of land for a new move in. That?s the first thing I?m going to spend bells on. I?m so glad they included that feature I thought of years ago (having house plots as PWP). I also love villagers, and the island will be empty at first so a new villager moving in quickly will not make such a difference on my overarching plans.

in new leaf, i always liked to keep it as small as possible because it was easier to get to know the villagers and the lil quests didn't seem so overwhelming (i loved the weeks where i would only have 8 villagers LOL). i'll probably try and keep it to around 5 villagers in new horizons and then work on my island a bit and go from there!

I aim to reach full capacity sooner rather than later, especially given that the direct implied we will need villagers to give us specific crafting recipes. Having a large catalog has always been a big deal to me in these games, so I will typically do whatever is necessary to achieve that goal. Plus, I love socializing with the villagers in the game all the time!

I think it depends on how many villagers we can have, so it'll depend on what feels "right".

Whatever feels right for me at the time Nook will mention he has three "interested" parties. I would like to be able to get more crafting recipes, so it would seem like the best choice would be to move them in soon, but I don't want to rush on my game, as Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be the only game I play for now on, so slowly is better for me. So yeah, whatever feels best at the moment. :)
