I wouldn't class it as most loved-Gen I or Gen II is very much in peoples hearts.
Gen III is good, but I don't feel it deserves a remake as such yet. See how long it took for the original silver and gold got a re-make. Whilst Gen III introduced a lot of good ideas that are now stable in pokemon, for me it wasn't my greatest pokemon experience.

IMO
Gen 1 was so broken... It's only in peoples hearts for nostalgia purposes, replaying the original red or blue versions gives you a major headache today.
Gen 4 was abhorrently awful. I mean for ****s sake surfing was SLOWER than walking. **** off.....
Gen 2 Fixed a lot of issues and was an absolutely awesome generation of pokemon. Crystal version was the ****.
You also need to remember that Gen 3 consists of Fire Red and Leaf Green, those don't really count as gen 1, they're just gen 1 remakes. Also Gen 4 contains SS and HG, which along with platinum are the only playable games from that gen, even though platinum still does have it's issues ( MGS class massive ****ing dialogue ftl ). Diamond and Pearl were ****ing terrible, so many goddamn issues and the elite four was just a pathetic mass of crap. So much so that they had to redo it for Platinum.
Gen 5 restructured breeding, and on top of this with the first two installments of its games it reintroduced how it felt to play Gen 1, when everything was new again. It's beloved n_n ~ <3
B2 and W2 put the finshing touches on the story and has brought the fandom roaring back.

If it can take an external sd card then it should work.
Go to your play store and install "My Boy!" Free
You don't need the paid version, the free one gives you everything you need. Paying for it just allows you to use save states ( big whoop =/ )
For the next steps PM me. I'm unsure of the forums rules for linking things like torrents etc so I'll play it safe. Also if you have a wiimote, android is compatible, thus you can use your wiimote to play pokemon ruby/emerald/FR/LG and your phone as the monitor. This is of course a nice alternative if you don't want to use touch screen controls.
