That’s not really creepy. He compliments both female and male players. And the third wheel part is mostly him teasing or whatnot. Idk I just don’t sense anything creepy about him. He just going along his business giving people rides and singing his shanties. It’s even sweet when he sings about his family. Ya’ll are mean lol.

In such an agreeable and pleasant world such as Animal Crossing, Kaap'n"s unwarranted creepy comments about how much 'cuter' I've gotten after an island trip or how 'worried my father would be because I'm so pretty' are unwarranted. He has a whole wife and family! Also tired of creepy old men-my interactions with him are just spamming the A to get to and from the island.

I think I can see both sides of the argument, but I have honestly, never felt that kapp’n was creepy. I do recall that comment that you’re referring to and I’ve viewed it more as a grandparent admiring the growth or progress a child was making than as something creepy. It is kinda weird that he’d say it to someone he just met, but maybe the comments are just acknowledgment of how far along you’ve come on exploring and working.

If not this, we can also consider that maybe there was issues with translation or localization since there are some expressions, words, sounds that are hard to translate in English sometimes, not to mention Japan’s culture and mannerisms are significantly different from Americans (or wherever you’re from).

that being said, i honestly don't think he's all that creepy, maybe it's a bit weird for him to call me pretty, but he just seems like a sweet ol' dude who loves his family. sweetest thing ever when he sings about how his daughter is a "real pearl" lol. I can see why people might view him as a pedo, tho

I wouldn't have even thought about the "hey did you get cuter" thing if he hadn't added the part about the villager's father being worried about them, and I feel that attempting to interpret that as an innocent statement of admiration from a grandfatherly figure is slightly naive, especially considering, from the moment you meet him, Kapp'n makes all sorts of jokes intended to make you second guess yourself. Primarily, when you go off to the island, he assures you that "most" of your possessions will still be there when you return.

I've watched enough anime that it doesn't terribly bother me, but I do see why it's off-putting. I'd be curious to know what sorts of comments he makes towards male villagers, though.

I’ve pretty much always played as a male character on AC. Typically, he just comments on your character growing up and becoming a man and those sorts of things.
