What if you could choose where the villagers houses would be? Or if you could evict them out of the town? (After all, we are the mayor...)

Why, or why not? Would you like to feel more in charge and have an easier life (lol), or are you happy with getting surprised of where houses are plotted?

(Because having houses right in your path is great!!1!!1!!)

I would like, as Mayor, the ability to reject animals that ask to move in. Or be able to pre set villager homes placemet, which they can move in when somebody has moved out.

Yesssssss! Thins is how I think it should work:

Every seven days after a villager has moved out, when you load up the game Isabelle should say "I need to talk to you about something, meet me at town hall asap" And there she will say "(villager) is considering moving in." She will then show you a "profile card" of the villager with a picture of them, their house extirior and interior, birthday, and a brief description of their personality. If you accept, Isabelle will tell you they don't know where to build their house, and you will go to Nooks where he and the villager will be waiting. You will then take the villager out to your town and you will select an area for their house like your own house or a PWP. They will tell you if they think it is too close to something else.
If you say they can't move in, the next day Isabelle will have a different villager wanting to move in. The procedure is the same.

Only problem is it would take a while for villagers you like to show up... Maybe she could show you a small list of villagers who are considering moving in, one of each personality?

Kind of like this idea but ughh, there's 10 villagers. I just can't be bothered going to Nook and finding a place for them to live.

Part of the fun is getting random villagers. We shouldn't have to accept them into our town. Also nothing is more satisfying than getting one of the uglies out. I do think we should have permanent house plots like in GC, but the mayor should be able to move them whenever someone moves out.

Since we are the mayor, I feel we should be able to take charge.
There are officials IRL that can state where and where you may not build things
It would be cool to get "applications" when you have an opening from villagers that want to move in
You can have an interview with them, ask why they should be chosen to live in said town
Once agreed, they would walk about the town and agree on a location together

Oh that would be amazing

It would kill a part of this game, but it would also save many people from hours of frustration. I think it would be a nice addition to the game.

Maybe you can have the option to change where their houses are placed, but you also can choose NOT to change where they're at? There, everybody wins!

I don't think we should able to completely determine where a villager is going to live. But on the other hand, it isn't good as it is now either. Maybe it'd be an idea to be able to set up plots where villagers can place their houses (kind of like Let's Go to the City), or choose one out of three or so locations a villager would like to move. That way you do have influence, but not so much that it's made too easy.
I also think you should be able to refuse and accept villager moving request, taking off some of Isabelle's job - she is so busy already anyway. Choosing villagers to move would ruin the fun (heck no, imagine a mayor of an actual town choosing who moves in), but being able to control it more is nice.

I wonder how the Wii U version of Animal Crossing is going to be, seeing how there are many new options in HHD. I think that game is a nice preview of what we could expect for the next game, though it's still a game based on totally designing everything so we may not get as many influence. I'm sure we'll get more of a hand in our towns though.

I think that as mayor, we should have zoning rights. We could either zone where we'd like individual housing plots to go (kinda like in previous AC games when they were pre-set, but we'd have the option as to where we set them), or we could zone a section of our town as "residential".

I don't like the idea of being able to reject villagers, though. I like the randomness of the game and it feels as though some elements should be kept random. It'd lose its excitement if every last element was either within our control or handed to us on a silver platter.

I agree with this so much.

being more in control of house placement would save people a lot of trouble. I wouldn't necessarily feel the need to choose exact specific locations for each villager to move in, but I'd be plenty happy being able to designate "housing areas". This would allow the villager the freedom to choose where in that housing area they'd like to plot their house.

While I like the placement of their houses being their choice (it makes sense to me), at the same time, the places that some of them picked in my town have been annoying. Additionally, to me the town looks really messy with the houses all over the place; I don't know if that makes sense (I don't know how else to explain it). I have trouble planning out my landscaping and placement of my PWPs the way things are now; if it was more in my control, I'd hope that somehow it'd be easier for me to plan.
