I was wondering if you would ever pay for in-game things... be it pokemon, or a villager on animal crossing...
You see, I would have said no, until I saw an offer for 28 shiny pokemon for ?5...
Im so tempted... what should I do?

If you'll be happy then go ahead, but personally I only ever buy in-game things if it's on sale/cheap. Those shinies might be illegitimate though, with Powerbank and all that.

At first I thought you were talking about micro-transactions, but you're not, right?

Buying in-game things, like shiny pokemon or some MMO account, that's not really my cup of tea. It ruins the fun of the games a bit, I think.

Finding a single shiny yourself in a pokemon game is hard enough, but I would imagine it's kinda' neat to be able to say "I caught that!"

Someone going ahead and buying a ton of shinies spoils that experience for the rest of the team, I think. If one person can just buy a shiny, it's less exciting to find one for yourself - they're less rare that way.

I think im happy with my achievements anyway... kinda... I have a pokemon with pokerus... thats rarer then a shiny... (although i still have no idea what that does)
Also, shiny pokemon hate me :(

Only in games like Team Fortress 2 and a rare few others where there are really beneficial things that you practically can't get any other way.

I've noticed Minecraft is selling servers to play on now, which could be another exception, but I don't know.

As for things like DLC, minor virtual items, etc. it just doesn't seem worth it.

if you mean micro-transactions like buying mounts for an mmo, of course, do it all the time

if you mean like... buying things that you can already obtain otherwise, such as shinies, no. you can easily just get a powersave or even buy shinies on here for bells or tbt??? its not hard at all. ive seen people buy AC sets for real money too lmfao they be trippin bro

if I think it would make me happy, yeah I'll buy stuff! I figure I can get a coffee for 5 dollars and drink it and that's gone, or I can buy something nonreal online. What's really the difference? I don't really need either of them. It's just fun stuff.

I'd never pay for anything that wasn't meant to be paid for. I'm already funny as it is on microtransactions, it has to be something really worth it, I can't say I'd pay for Pokemon unless I was into it the way I was when I was a kid, I bet I would have paid then haha

I am a kid XD I decided in the end to buy it cuz of how cute half of them are... plus, some I could only get with y & I have x :P

I probably spent over 100$ on club penguin when i was younger so

ive changed and probably wouldnt unless it was like 1$ for every it em ive ever wanted yk

I do if it's the game developer selling it, and I love the game enough that I feel justified giving them more of my money.

I think almost all of us have spent embarrassing amounts of dollars on silly micro transactions or sorts before. :P If not simply through your phone, I can think of a handful I delved into that seem like an oopsie now. Neopets NC is one but I don't play that game anymore, haven't for a couple years.

Depends what it is really.
I wouldn't buy my thing unless I was really interested in it

If you include currency and memberships, then yep. I've probably used over $2,500 on them. Doesn't mean I'm proud of it though.

My brother just spent ?19 on 1,000,000 FIFA 14 points...

The only time I used micro-transactions in a game was when Amazon gave 400 Amazon coins to Kindle Fire owners. Apart from that I don't bother.
