Would you change your island name?

So the "How you got your island name" thread made me realize that a lot of people may regret their island name, even so far as to reset over it. I don't think I could ever go so far, but would you be interested in a name change if it was available? Misspellings, capitalizations, change of theme, or just bored of it are all good reasons... at the same time, the island name is part of each person's identity, and for community and familiarity reasons, it makes sense to not be able to change it.

Lol I named my island Nug-Egg which is dumb but I’ve come to embrace it now I guess I would like the option to change it though without resetting

I'm happy with my island name, but the option should be there for other players. It's a multiyear game and people change. The name you pick might be irrelevant or even painful several years from now

It was a big step for the developers to remove gender and allow unlimited edits to appearance. Let's see more of that - changes that allow us to define and redefine our own playing experience

I have 0 gripes with my island name, but I definitely wouldn't mind the option being available. Maybe for a hefty pile of nook miles (25k-50k) to deter scammers from swapping island names nonstop.​

My Island is named after my cat so it will always be special to me.
If I ended up with a typo right at the start, I'd have reset it right then and there.

I actually like my island name a lot, wouldn't mind however an option to change the island name at all.

I like my island name, I spent a lot of time before the game released thinking about what to name my island so definitely no regrets here.

But having the option would be nice. I actually really needed the option when I had to make a new NL town after the old one corrupted. The old town was called Boston so to avoid confusion with the Dream Suite (i guess idk) I named the new town Boston☆. I came to hate it after a while and I ended up having to use a save editor to change it back to the regular name Boston. In a scenario like this I can definitely see how it would be super helpful to be able to change the name of your town/island.

I like my island name, it will show in the future what stuff I was into when I began the game (just like my New Leaf towns) but it would be nice anyways to have the option just in case, if someone somehow regret their name it sounds like a shame having to reset everything...

I love my island name but I feel like if we can change our appearance in the game whenever we want we should also be able to change our island name whenever we want too. I can see renaming the island being an option when you go talk to Isabelle.

I like my island name and thought it's kind of weird and unique haha but I would not mind if there is an option to change it, especially for those people who wants to rush and get started with their island without worry and just put a proper name later on

Yeah, i want to change it. I dont even know what i would pick as my new one, but i just know that i am not feeling this current name anymore which is sad because i used to love it so much, but i am starting to dislike it for a few personal reasons.

I love my island name and I’m happy with it. My hubby misspelled his island name though and it kind of bugs me so I wish we had the option to change it

Yea, I definitely agree that if they do add the option, it be a very limited thing... like once every 3 months or for it to be expensive. Having people change their island name every week wouldn't be good, imo.

I struggled with "Kudzu" or "Kudzu Isle" because I wasn't sure if the game would refer to your island as "Name Island". So I feared seeing a lot of "Kudzu Isle Island."
Just not something easily verified beforehand (especially playing at midnight on launch!). And it still burns me a little because it would have sounded way cooler :c

I agree!
I think some people have taken stupid island names, of course it's their fault but... or, something that speaks to me more: you change the theme of your island and the name is not matching anymore. I could happen, really! I am quickly disturbed by small details like these.

But we need to pay a large amount of miles, sure. 25k seems to be a fair price for me. And the same for changing your own name.

My islands are called Vylbrand and Kilika.

I picked Vylbrand out months in advance and still love it. Kilika I picked on the spot, but I named it after Kilika Island in Final Fantasy X: a game that⁠—even nineteen years after I first played it⁠—remains one of my favourite video games of all time. I don't see myself wanting to change either of them.

I don't have any strong feelings either way on whether or not it should be changeable.

I decided on Cozy before buying the game and don't think I'd change it even if the option existed. My island has a lot of cozy, relaxing nooks that fit its name perfectly.

Would still appreciate the option to change like in some other life sim games though. If I ever decided I wanted to go with a different theme it'd save me from having to reset solely for a different island name!

I kind of love how you CAN'T change it. It gives consequences and makes it so you have to stick to your decision, which I think is a good thing.

However, being able to change it would be nice, too! haha

I named my island Valhalla and I still love it but it would be cool to change the name if you wanted to

I like the name I picked but even allowing 1 island name change would help people a lot. When I see some people talking about resetting their island, sometimes one of their reasons is they no longer like the islands name.
