I was watching the last Nintendo Direct yesterday and I thought "Wow, Animal Crossing Plaza looks stunning O.O". I mean seeing the villagers in HD aaawwww <3 <3 <3 It made me think of an Animal Crossing for Wii U and that it would probably be really nice :) It would be awesome if it stuck to the principle of New Leaf (being mayor and stuff) but with more features and freedom to shape our towns :) (Villager house placement, please!!!). And I think the developers would probably find a good way to integrate the Wii U controller into gameplay ^^

Thinking about it got me really exciting because in my opinion an Animal Crossing for Wii U holds great potential. But the thing is I don't have a Wii U and up until now I have never even thought about getting one. No game cought my interest yet. And I have a PS3, so it seems kinda unneccessary for me to get a Wii U. But an Animal Crossing for Wii U is sooo tempting >.<

What do you guys think? Would you buy a console for just one game?

(Okay, maybe two games. If I had a Wii U I would also play the Zelda installment for it! <3)

I probably would, I bough a PS3 a long time ago pretty much just to play Little big planet, I loved that game, I?m thinking about getting a PS Vita so that I can play Little big planet on it, and J victory vs and other games, there?s quite a few games coming out for WiiU that I want, I might get a job soon, if I do I?m definitely gonna get both.

It would have to be drastically different from New Leaf. If it was as similar as, for example, Wild World and City Folk, I'd definitely pass.
Even so, I'd still be very hesitant to purchase a Wii U unless there were at least 2 other titles I really wanted to play in addition to AC.

*Edit* After posting this I checked the current price point for the Wii U - It's still at $300.
To be completely honest, I don't think I could make myself pay any more than $200 for the Wii U, so unless the price drops dramatically in the coming years, I'd go without it even if a great new AC game was released.

Probably not. It's bad enough that I only bought the 3DS for New Leaf.

Pretty much this.

There really isn't enough about the Wii U to interest me that much. I'd be tempted if the new AC was different enough but $300 is a ton of money for me right now.

Plus, I'm not much of a handheld gamer but I love being able to bring AC anywhere with me on portable consoles.

Probably not. o3o Unless you can use the portable version of the Wii u really far away from the console... I like my ACs portable.

I also got a 3ds specifically for Animal Crossing, so I wouldn't be opposed to doing that again. But not until I feel like I'm done with NL. Come to think of it, I think I also got the Wii because of AC... Obviously with both, I intended to get other games too.

I don't think you'd play as much on the Wii as you do on the DS because the DS is much easier to use.

i don't think it is a crazy idea to buy a console system just for one game.

as long as you are having fun playing, it really doesn't make a difference whether you're getting all that fun from one game or several games.

the value of a console is in how much you use it.

i have been away from the "Nintendo universe" for years now... at first, i pre-ordered the upcoming Zelda 3DS XL just to play Zelda. but then i learned about ACNL and bought a black 3DS XL just to try New Leaf since i couldn't wait until Nov 22. my plan was to return the black 3DS XL when my Zelda 3DS XL came, but now i have cancelled the Zelda 3DS XL pre-order because i'm happy with just playing New Leaf. later if i want to i can buy a real copy of the Zelda game (i didn't like the idea of digital copy of games anyway).

the fact that i can take the 3DS XL with me all the time anywhere and play ACNL is one of the best surprises for me. i don't think i can play AC any other way now -- not even on wii u.

what i want now, is a BETTER AC version for 3DS! :) (see my signature Dislikes for all the things that can be improved on)

I got the GC,DS and Wii specifically for AC, but then I was living w/ my rents with practically no bills. Now I'm married with a house and the bills that come with it. I'd probably want the game but getting it would be unlikely. I wasn't gonna get NL because of the cost(game and system, I got the special edition ac 3ds and I like to get the guides) but my husband kinda made me. He said if I didn't get it he'd pre order it for me because "You never spend money on yourself." I am glad he made me though. :)

No, i just got used to the 3ds. The game would need to be drastically different for me to consider it.

I won't because I like the portability of the 3ds. That's why I only have played WW on the ds before NL. I like playing any where, any time. At home in bed, on my lunch break, at the doctor's waiting room, wherever.

I bought my 3DS just for Animal Crossing, and I don't think it was a waste of money. I get a lot of use out it and will for a long time, I think. Now, buying extra games for the 3DS that I won't play frequently would be a waste of money... (Kind of did that with Mario Kart and Super Mario 3D Land, which I never play.)

But I'm not convinced about buying a Wii U just for a new AC game. I started AC with the GameCube version and liked it a lot, but ever since AC:WW came out, I've been much more into the portable AC games. I didn't ever get into City Folk, or return to the GameCube version, once I was spoiled by AC:WW's portability. The game for the Wii U would have to look mindblowingly amazing for me to even give it a thought.

i'm not sure. i've played both the portable and the tv console versions and i like having ac on a portable much more.

Yes probably (like when its cheaper) even if they dont do A.C. just to play the new Wind Waker (which is the best zelda game... that ever was made... period) but I feel almost certain they will do an A.C. for it eventually.

The thing with me is im not big on video games, with the exception of Nintendo (and minecraft + flight-sim on pc). I only buy Nintendo consoles and have had all of them with the exception of some of the 8million different types of game boys that came out.... I played A.C. first on the Gamecube and I think it may be my favorite ever video game and the one ive put the most time into. I got the Wii for zelda, but with the knowledge that there would be an A.C. eventually... I bought the 3ds for zelda, with the knowledge there would be an A.C. for it... I will do the same with the Wii U I think.

I think A.C. is great on the handheld, but I'm not in the habit of bringing mine with me unless im on a trip or something. I enjoy A.C. just as much on a t.v. console.
