So. . . what's the worst online experience you've ever had?

By far, my worst experience was the time that somebody randomly showed up at my gates completely uninvited, and started taking my stuff! I tried to explain to them nicely why I didn't want them to take anything (I mean who would want a random stranger to unexpectedly show up in your town and start taking stuff?), but they misunderstood and took stuff anyways. I eventually hit the power button on them. Luckily the whole thing had been a misunderstanding, and after starting some drama with them, we got it worked out and are now on good terms!

I know people usually have a lot of rules for their towns, yet in my experience, most people are usually really polite when visiting other towns, even if the town has no rules. I do specifically remember one time, however, I had invited someone to my town, and had mafe it VERY clear that they couldn't run. Well they show up, and start running to get around in my town. Even worse, thanks to their running, they had ruined a few of my hybrids. I was mad, and should've said something/hit the power button, but I had some other guests and didn't want them to lose everything they had done in my town.

So those by far are the two worst experiences I've had online. What is the worst experience(s) you've guys have had?

My worst experience was probably when the game was still very new. I had lots of trees everywhere because I wanted to make some kind of forest (honestly I don't even know anymore it's been 5 years). And someday a guy came over uninvited just like with you and they had a golden axe in their hands. I didn't pay much attention as the game was very new and this was also my first time playing online in any Animal Crossing game. I did not think people could harm your town in any way but once he left (and thus the game saved), most of my trees where chopped down. I didn't even have any fruits left! Immediatly removed him from my friendslist obviously but oh man that was evil...

Although I agree with you with people generally being polite. This was the only time I had such an experience! Personally I didn't have many rules in my town aside from not running through my flowers. But people even started asking if they were allowed to check main street or buy stuff from Re-Tail. I didn't even know there were reasons to restrict players from doing that before then oops.

The only "negative" experiences I've had were on the online island. I went CT island hopping one day to obtain all the mermaid furniture and I had a wacky experience with a hacker. Which I normally don't mind hackers because for the most part they aren't doing any harm and if people want to do it then I don't mind but this person was screwing with my gameplay which I don't like.

Long story short - He somehow made it to where we all left the island on Kapp'n's boat and we are all back at our respected villages BUT from each person's POV everyone was in their town so it was like we were two places at once. It was really weird and hard to explain but this just happened recently so I try to avoid it. I went into more detail with it HERE but that's really the only negative experience I've had.

The closest thing to a negative online experience is simply that the first time I tried doing the online island thing, I ended up disconnecting really fast because I have social anxiety and I got scared of the idea of playing ACNL with a complete stranger.

Worst experience I've had was when I'd gone with someone on island tours to get medals and they afk'd, leaving me stuck on the island after just then wasting hours

The nintendo switch 18+ thingie was so annoying, but animal crossing wise, i had someone come to the island with me because we were grinding for bells and i was attempting to catch a shark and then they stole it so yeah haha seems silly now.

honestly i think my worst online ACNL experience is as incident that was my fault. i wanted perfect fruit in my town, and i didn't know that perfect fruit would always grow regular trees in your town if it wasn't your native fruit. so when i was in some girl's town (who i barely knew, i only knew her because my best friend was pals with her) and no one was looking i shook her perfect apple tree and took her apples. the tree also died when that happened. i don't think she ever realized i did it, but i still super regret it. and i never even got anything out of it because i was a dingus and i thought i would be able to grow a perfect apple tree even though my native fruit is oranges. so i killed a tree and stole the fruits for nothing.

that probably seems stupid, but my online experiences aren't usually super eventful. i guess that's a good thing.

A long time ago, someone came to my town to pick up Maple and left without paying me. We had agreed on a price beforehand.

. . .

Going to the island and playing mini-games with AFK people.

T R I G G E R E D

I let someone over to pick up a villager and they ran over one of my hybrids killing it. I'm pretty sure it was an accident though and I don't hate them over it. Think that's my only kinda bad experience because the people on here are really nice. Club Tortimer is another story.

I only had 1 thankfully & it's not as bad as the others but it was still irritating nontheless,
so somebody wanted a Wii u console to play the desert island escape & i told him that I can give him one for free but it's a BLACK one from the fortune cookie & he was okay with it so when I delivered it to him, he saw that the leaf thing was red & he was like omg you refurbished it!! & i was like ???? dumbass I didn't refurbish anything, it came that way from the fortune cookie ( I actually didn't call him dumbass, I was very polite & nice about it; but I'm just mad rn lool ) & he for the life of him cannot understand that, it was like talking to a brick wall, I was so mad
I even offered to scan Villager amiibo for him if he wanted the white one & he was like oh i have his amiibo I didn't know about that.
oh god, after that incident, I decided not to help this user ever again lmao.
also what annoyed me that he's not a noobie player, he should of known that a BLACK wii u console comes in a red leaf from the fortune cookie
+ I'm not sure why did he made a big deal out of it, like Cyrus is there for a reason, you can change it anytime like ?? ****ing hell lmfao

also sorry for ranting ;; I needed to let that out of my system LOL

Lmao I can't believe this person had the nerve to complain about the freaking color of an item you were giving them for FREE xD
This would tick me off too, fam

LOOL ikr! I was even so close to giving this moron a neutral feed back or straight up negative one; but he gave me a positive one so lmfao

The worst experiences I've had have been on the online island. The first negative experience was when I went to the island one day, there was this hacker and two other people there and when i went outside the hacker was trapping people with rafflesia and I couldn't move so i just hit the wi-fi switch to get out of there. The second negative experience happened a few days ago, I go to the island and when I get there I check to see who else is there and it shows my name and town name and so I had heard about hackers cloning people when they arrive on the island so I figured that a hacker cloned me so I errored and went back to the island. When I got there I met this girl and we did a tour together. When we got back from the tour, someone came and it turned out to be the hacker as my clone and they started acting like I was the impostor. I wish that these people would get a life. Idk if they think that it's amusing to do this to people or what but it is just sad to think that these people have nothing better to do than this.

This was probably less than 6 months after the release of the game. I was on the island catching beetles and I had about 3 slots left to fill with beetles and someone asks how it was going, thinking they were beetle hunting too (because of their net) I explained that I was almost full and going to get off for the night so they can feel free to catch all the beetles they wanted uninterrupted. They then proceeded to say that the beetles on the island belong only to them and that this was their island. Then, disconnect, loosing all my beetles. I was pretty salty.

I have my island setup for beetles now.

I don't wifi (I'm probably in a different time zone to most players, I'm in UK) plus very little time, so haven't got bad experiences that way - I've been errored on CT islands in the past as other players get annoyed with my island hopping (or they prevent me from leaving, so I end up flipping the switch).
The hacking on CT islands has now got to such a level that visiting them could get me into a panic even tho I know (well I think I know) that they cannot harm your town as such.

My worst experience has been powering off rather than pressing select & save, (I've done that twice on an original 3dsXL, just over tired) not done on a new 3ds xl, as the power off switch takes more thinking about. Resetti is the least of it, all that work lost. Ugh.
And the other experience/regret really - putting a modern Police Station into a woody zen themed town, total brain freeze, but can't bring myself to reset the town, so probably gotta change from woody zen to a more modern/concrete bridge feel town. Cross with myself.

Worst online experience I have had happened to me was pretty recently. I had set up a trade with three people two of which I trusted but the third person I didn't know. I was planning on only trading with the two I knew and the third the next night but he whined and complained that he needed to do it that night. I agreed and told him that I would message him and do it after I was done with the first two.
I went AFK for a minute because I had everything laid out and ready. I guess in those few minutes he busted in uninvited and started grabbing everything in sight. He stole bells and items from me and one of the two I was trading with. The worst part was that they were unorderable so he screwed over me and my friend. They both somehow ran him back into the train station but he still got off with stuff before I could end the session.
To add on top of that one of the people I thought I could trust left and didn't give me everything promised then ghosted me. Now I only do one trade at a time. I learned my lesson and they both got banned from the groups but it still sucks.

Just remember, if somebody does that, even if it looks like they are in the process of waiting for/ taking the train out, hit the power button/wifi switch IMMEDIATELY. NEVER go to 'end session', as that just lets the thief get away with what they want. The power button/wifi switch won't save any damage that was done! :)
