Worst night of my life.

Wow, well... Last night was just about the worst I've had in a long time. Not sure if any of you remember, but before I left our little party, I said that I was going out to eat with megan, Dave, and a few other friends. I did. Just so you know, Megan was the girl I was referring to in my 'Halp' thread. Dave is her boyfriend, and one of my best friends. Anyway, so we're out at this casual place where you just sit outside on these park benches and tables and eat. We're all just sitting there, talking, yaddiyaddiya, when out of nowhere, Megan's just like "Dave, I'm dumping you for Fabio." And I swear to God (if there is one) those were her exact words. Everyone just completely shuts up, Meg is looking around at everyone like it's no big deal, I'm sitting there completely in shock, and Dave like, jumps over the goddamn table right into my face ready to punch me out. My friend who happened to be there, Chase, like, pushes him off the side of the table, Dave's still coming after me, I stand up, Chase gets in front of Dave, restrains him, then Dave runs off to his damn car and speeds off. Chase runs to his truck and follows. Everyone is still just silent. Megan starts bawling her eyes out and is like murming something I can't understand. I look around and it's only her, her friend, and I. I just run to my car and drive home. I have no clue what happened to either of them, or Chase and Dave that night. School today was a complete and udder hell. Chase didn't tell me what happened, Dave's not saying anything to me, and he almost tried to beat the *CEN-2.0-SORD* out of me as I was walking to my car for lunch, Megan didn't come to school I don't think (not sure), and a thousand rumors are flying around about her cheating on Dave for me, and all this *CEN-2.0-SORD*. This really sucks, and I have no clue what to do. Megan... what the hell was she thinking..? She made this a whole goddamn mess. I'm so screwed... this sucks. I lost one of my best friends over this. He's a senior, but still. No girl is worth that, I don't care who she is.

and I can't figure out why Dave would be mad at you, unless he jumps to conclusions easily, you didn't know about any of this for all he knows, yet he friggin attacked you.

What the others said. Forget Megan, it seems to me that she really didn't care about Dave's feelings, just what would make her (And possibly you... But if she really took your feelings into concern she probably would've tried to break up with Dave in a slightly different manner) happy.

Most people I know only keep girlfriends for a few months. My dad's still friends with his best friend from elementary school, and I know a lot of my friends will be working in the same general area as myself.

Wow, I don't know what to say but you have a right to be pretty angry with Megan now.

As for Dave, I would give him a week or so and try to talk things out with him, has to be pretty bad for him too.

I'd just give it all a little time to cool off, not too much but at least a few days.

Walk up to dave and tell him you didn't ever want her, she wanted you but you didn't want her to, then she just threw that out there.

Tell him the whole story, if he's really your buddy he'll understand and let it be at that.

You need to watch what you say, try not to lie, but don't say anything that will make him try to kill you. You are in a bad situation. In a situation like this your friend wants someone to blame, and it is going to be you, megan, or himself (or a combination of these three). Think about which would be worse, and truthfully plotting behind someones back doesn't ever really end well on all sides, If you really are sorry for him tell him that, if you think he mistreated or neglected megan tell him that, and if you currently think megan is a manipulative person tell him that.
