It would be so much easier if....they didn't scare so easy...lol even when I sneak up. Also...if there weren't SO many warf roaches spawning. I swear I just scared away like 20 and there's still no beetles on the trees. lol Grr.

omg those roaches are the worst! I remember the first time I went beetle harvesting, there were so many! It took me forever to finally catch one though, as I was mostly looking at the trees for the beetles.

Beetle harvesting right now, and I always make sure to scare off all roaches after each time circling the island. I have those wharf roaches! It makes a drawn out task so much more annoying.

They really are! It has taken me almost an hour to fill up my basket thing completely because they spawned more than anything. lol

Yes it does! but it's a ton of bells at the end... lol it's the only reason I do it. ha

Check the center of the island, tiger beetles spawn there as well.

Am I the only one who scares away goliath beetles?

Do you have regular trees, bushes, and flowers on the grassy part of the island? Removing those helps increase beetle spawns.

This.
All I have is one regular tree in the centre for the giant stags and rainbows, plus 2 palms on either side, and no trees to the south and very North of the island. I scare away all other tree/ground beetles and hermits as well as regular fish to allow spawning of sharks. To catch beetles, I find facing directly North towards the beetle is best, as approaching from the sides and backs of trees can easily scare away beetles (approach beetles facing their backs/tops).

I have noticed if you sneak up on them while they are moving you have a better chance of catching them.

Have you tried pressing and holding A while holding your net then walking up to them?
Depending on the beetle, sometimes you just have to pause every two or three steps for a second then continue walking to avoid scaring them.

This is what I have been doing also and it's working flawlessly for me!
