Windows Vista

I know Justin has it and he likes it, but Windows Vienna (which is the next Windows OS and look SWEET) is scheduled for '09, so I'm passing on vista.

I've had it since the day it released... Vista is more of a 'extra' upgrade, MS is pushing it a bit too much. The main new things is the GUI(sidebar, areo, start-menu) and... um, what? Lots of little things but nothing else besides the GUI is drastically re-done.

I have Home Premium, Home Basic is CRAP.

Bottom line is don't buy vista unless you have a big problem with XP, atleast until it becomes normal to have vista. Or if you are a huge tech geek and have the money to get it without it being a huge dent in money...

okay say 2010, close enough.

3 years.

I've had a bit of experience with it. It seems more or less like XP with more bells attached. Problems with drivers still seem to be a big thing, and the 'security' features the thing has are really quite annoying.

Couldn't agree more, as a user.

UAC is the suck.

Oh and drivers... I don't want to even get into that...

As many of you may know, I am a Mac user. I have a background with both PCs and Macs. My little IBM sits right next to my iMac. When I tried Vista, it definitely looks like XP with a new paint job and a snazzy sidebar. I'd go with the advice that has been previously spoken. Wait till `09//`10 for the next update. Though it is curious: Gadgets for the PC, Widgets for the Mac. That new searching feature is much like Spotlight for the Mac. But you've heard that already.

You can turn the UAC off. And I've had Home Premium since, May?

And yeah, its more a XP upgrade than something really new.

Where abouts is the switch?

I've been looking for one for a few weeks.
