Will villagers wear designs if...

I replace them all with umbrella design displays? Or will they still wear them (they're basic designs)? Any help would be great! I don't want them wearing ugly basic designs from Re-Tail. (Not the ducky!)

If you replace everything with umbrellas (or dresses, I believe), they won't wear any of the designs.

I did that to get rid of those basic designs. Just send your villagers some new shirts, and those old designs will fade away quickly.

Thanks so much! Yeah I'm also trying to keep my second town's villagers as original as possible (or just not flooded with fish, fossils, and horrible outfits) so I took all the ReTail slots and now I'm gonna use all the design slots.
