Will villagers still wear Christmas clothing items after Christmas?

Basically like the thread title states - I'd like to give my villagers all Christmas sweaters or dresses, but I wondered if they would keep wearing them after Christmas.

Does anyone know the answer or want to speculate?

They will keep wearing them even after the season. They'll wear any clothing the player gives them, no matter if it's fitting to the season or not. It'll be in their wardrobe forever unless you give them 24 new clothing to cycle it out.

That's what I was expecting, but a bummer nevertheless. I was hoping they would be treated like seasonal wreaths.

I have been experiencing until now, since Halloween, villagers that would occasionally change to spooky costumes that I gave them.
So yeah.. not happy about that lol
Knowing my past mistake, I still want to see them wearing winter clothing that I gift them. And in any case I have to cycle it out by giving them more clothing. So my situation is different.
