Has anyone managed to get their Nintendo Wii U to output through surround sound?
If not, does anyone know anyone that has managed to successfully do it?

I have been able to connect my Sky+ Box, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Gamecube and Nintendo 64 up to my surround sound system, but I can't seem to figure out why I cannot get my Nintendo Wii U to work...

EDIT: I have tried Google to no avail...

"When set to surround, WiiU only outputs in LPCM 5.1 format.
What this means is that unless the source is encoded in LPCM 5.1, which practically nothing is.... you will not get any sound out of the rear channels.
...
So Wii U will not support Dolby Digital, Pro Logic, or DTS....none of that.
Which is totally forgivable, except even their own games don't support LPCM 5.1."

This was in the first result for "WiiU Surround Sound". I don't own one myself, so I can't do any real testing.

The Nintendo Wii U seems to have an AV Multi Out port.
Is that anything significant to getting surround sound working on the console?

I am asking as all of my other things seems to work perfectly through my surround sound system and speakers via AV/Scart minus the Sony PlayStation 3 which was more awkward and required me to purchase an Optical Cable, but it was all worth it as I can play Spyro the Dragon in 5.1 now.

I have my TV on Stereo. It just sounds better. I guess it depends on the TV. Plus, like Andy said, the U doesn't support Dolby. Although the GamePad on Surround works.
