I own a Switch and was wondering if any of you would suggest buying a Wii U, I'm very tempted to pick one up for the games that don't make it over to Switch.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Mine has just been collecting dust for the past year and a half or so lol

id say no but it probs goes for rly cheap now idk but same like i'll probs have an asthma attack if i go near mine it has so much dust

I wouldn’t do it simply because you have the Switch. There’s lots of games on the Switch by now, some that you may want, and in the future there will probably be some that you want, so I would save money for that. I don’t even have a Switch yet, but I’m planning on getting one for Christmas. :)

Well it has. I mean if you want it for something special and my nintendo stuff, go for it if you can afford it.

You should get a Wii U even its not the console of the year no more, but the Wii U has more better and fun games on it then the Switch and the Wii U remotes are not cheap as the switch remotes. The switch remotes can break pretty easy and they are way to small then the Wii U remotes.
Trust me the Wii U console is more of a party and family type of console.
I still want a Wii U even I already own a switch.

Neither does the Switch then considering 90% of its games are Wii U ports js

I LOVE the Wii U, but I'd say to wait on getting one. The only 6 notable exclusives that it still has (that I remember) are Nintendo Land, Game & Wario, Paper Mario: Color Splash, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, and Xenoblade Chronicles X. The last 2 (and the best 2) have already gotten hints of getting ported, and I'd imagine that Pikmin 3 will get a port eventually as well. Color Splash was just alright so it isn't that big of a deal if it doesn't get ported, but I feel like it'll only get ported if Nintendo remembers that it exists. I don't see the first 2 getting ports though, as they relied so heavily on using the Gamepad. There's not really any way they could work on the Switch. They were both pretty fun party games, but you aren't missing much if they stay exclusive.
Wait after typing all of this out I just remembered Super Mario Maker, I'm still surprised that that game isn't on the Switch yet. There's probably a port/sequel in the works for that game too, they were most likely focusing on finishing up Odyssey first so that there wouldn't be 2 Mario games competing with each other at the same time. Aaaand after typing that out I remembered 3D World. It's fun but you aren't missing out on anything too impressive there.
Did I get everything? I think I did.

Ehh honestly would be a waste since certain games that would be appealing to players the most are very likely to just get ports to the Switch or 3DS. (New Super Mario Bros. U, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Super Mario 3D World...etc).

Probably not because most of the games on the Wii U are either ported or have sequels on the Switch already. Either that or they probably would soon.

While others might be correct in saying it's not really worth it for the games you can buy in a brick-and-mortar store like Best Buy or GameStop or whatever, it might be worth it for indie and retro games on the eShop since the Switch apparently lacks a Virtual Console.

I absolutely love my Wii U, you definitely should get one! :D It is a absolute shame the system did not sell better than it did. :/ I just love how Nintendo took the DS concept and translated it into a console plus by having it also have a Wii Mode truly makes it a unique and fun console! :) To those who don't have one, I highly recommend buying Wii U stuff and collecting the games you want for it now because prices are hitting the low and I can guarantee it will not stay this way due to the system selling around 50% the Gamecube ever did (which was the lowest selling Nintendo console besides the Virtual Boy) which means certain games/accessories will be very hard to find 10+ years from now. Plus, the console has awesome games that are a blast to experience especially with friends (the collectibility of the console is just a plus). :)

Another factor to consider is that all the games that got ported to the Switch are dirt cheap now (who wants to pay $60 for DK Tropical Freeze when you can get it for less than $20 for example?). o/
