why do villagers ALWAYS want to plot infront of your house. no but seriously it's such a pain plot resetting marshal ;;
all he wants to do is plot right infront of my house.

That's why I reset my former town in a nutshell. My current mayor's house is close to the cliff to prevent that.

In my new town, Flora I sat another player's house in front of mines to keep it from happening.

try putting a cheap public works project (a bench or something) in the spot where they keep plotting. Then you can delete it when you have all your dreamies :) this won't work right now as obviously you're in the middle of plot resetting, but hopefully it's helpful for the future!

They are stalking you! Or maybe they're not just plotting a house, they're plotting revenge to kill you! XD ikd They want to be your friend so they live right outside of your house...waiting...

Yeah I was planning to but then I forgot to do it because I just reset my town. But seriously there were so many other spots lmao.

The villagers often want to plot near you or an alt - I would make a good guess that the game is programmed this way - and for players putting their house in a out of the way spot on their own - I cringe, cos if villagers are still incoming there is a good chance they are going to plot near you.
Its relatively easy to prevent - either place your house so there is not enough space in front of you or put in a PWP fast and plot reset from the 6th villager onwards (If you are in the start up of a new town).

Yeah, they love that spot, don't they? They must really love/hate the mayor. I hope you can plot him soon!

Now, THAT'S funny!

This is why I always have 30 pwps in my town, in key areas where villagers usually plot. And I always do the max amount of fountains, and the fence project. It's expensive, but well worth it considering it leaves only about 20 different spots available for a villager to plot. And while plot resetting a dreamy, If I notice the villager plot in the same area many times, I will demolish something in an area where the villager is not likely to plot, and put that pwp in the other spot where they plot most.

I agree with Dorian. They want to be close to the mayor because you are the only one with any power in the town (Isabelle has a bit of influence, but she doesn't really walk around town. I wonder if she lives on Main Street?). It kind of reflects real life in some ways. However, I do hope in the future games that we can district the Villages (residential, commercial, agriculture, parks). Real towns do that all the time; hence why you see a bunch of churches or schools in the same area.

I had the same problem with Marshal but instead he didn't want to go anywhere my path would look nice in :( I ended up giving up when I found an eh spot for him...

Ugh, I had that happen to my second character since my mayor's house is by a cliff. I put an illuminated arch outside my door after I got that villager to leave to keep it from happening again.

I figured that Poncho would choose a bad spot, so I made a New Save file and went to track the location which he would live next.

I noticed his house would be built in front of one of my player villagers (not the mayor), so I quitted without saving.

Afterward, I made a new save game and noticed that Poncho would live at the right side of the Town Hall which don't had anything important and then I saved the game.

Yeah, for some reason it's always the way if you let them plot randomly (or have no house when it's a random move in). They always seem to go in the worst places automatically...it's like they know
