So here is my question : why would people ask for thousands of NMTs when selling a villager ?
I just don't get why you would need to visit that many islands . Are people in need of ressources ? Desperately island hopping looking for their dreamies ? I barely even visit 1 island a day as I already have 10 villagers and get all the ressources I need from my own island.
But still, everyone seems to be desperately looking for NMT, what is it that I am missing ?
This is a serious question, no sarcasm, not trying to make fun of anyone. Thank you to those who'll take time to answer

When I didn’t have all my villagers, I used 200+ to find Raymond. I didn’t find him. I can only imagine how many you need to find 10 that you love.

I just think it's because that's the only currency people will take for rare items/villagers. So in order to achieve said item/villager you gotta have x amount of nmt to satisfy what the seller is asking for. Also, nmt go for 100k-200k IGB and I find it's easier to make 2k miles than 200k bells

i collect them because i go island hopping every time i have a plot open, most of my villagers are amiibos i have so i can reinvite then back another time
i just like to see what villagers i didn't know i would like ♡

or most of the time i'll spend them on this website for diys or materials i need ☆

That's cool that you use them to discover new villagers ! This is something I love in NH, so many hidden gems *.*

And I never thought about it ! If NMT are a currency you can buy villagers with, then why not DIYs and materials !

People use it as a form of currency. I'm honestly not sure if a lot of people still use them to island-hop or not. I'm sure that a lot of people do, but it has mostly become another currency to use for trading.

definitely easier to make miles than bells, you're right ! That's why I'd ask for bells if I ever were to sell a villager haha!

I'm addicted to island hopping :/
I would love hopping with 1k tickets just to see what I get lol
this is actually a problem for me aha
i was searching for fang and i found him on an island
but i was just so curious to see who else would appear, i just carried on 😂

I usually use my tickets to look for hybrid islands and new DIY bottles or furniture from trees. I usually just buy the amiibo for the villagers that I want if they're cheap enough. Island hopping for villagers seems painful.

omg I hate running into a good villager early - like do they know how long it took for me to get an empty plot?! 😩 let me have my fiiixx

island hopping but i think when it goes into several hundred of them it's for trading purposes. it's a currency that's more valued than bells in my opinion and can be used on any platform, unlike tbt which can only be used here

Here was my problem then ! I always tried to understand what people would use them for in-game, but they just don't ! I had exactly the same problem with TBT as first, I just couldn't understand
