I've been redoing my island from top to bottom recently, and planted a bunch of trees yesterday for a lil orchard, but not all of them have been growing? I thought the spacing was fine, can someone help me out here please?

much appreciated, heres a photo for reference: c:

Trees don't really like growing all clustered together like that; the ones in the center of a cluster tend to not grow. I'm not exactly sure what the parameters are, because there's actually a way around it. You can just move your trees elsewhere, grow them there, and then move them back once they're fully grown, and they'll be fine.

thank you so much!!! is this a new feature, I never experienced this in new leaf lol

It's honestly been so long, I can't remember what the tree mechanics in NL were, haha. I feel like there was something similar, where it's better to grow trees line by line instead of in a cluster at once, as well as a trees-per-acre limit, but I'm kind of blanking on the details, and I'm not sure if it's something where we figured out what the exact details were. And now the trees won't even die like in NL, so we don't have to worry so much. : D

Whenever trees don't grow, it's definitely the spacing! Always leave a blank square in all directions

I would let the trees grow elsewhere and then plant them back in later. It never hurts, but it is a pain to get the fruit needed to pick them up if they are fully grown!

They wont fit the hole after fully grown if they wouldn't grow there in the first place. A message will be shown saying a tree won't fit there, there needs to be a blank square in all directions

That happened to me before with the bamboo close to the cliff, I guess trees do need 1 tile space to grow.

what i did to get around this was i moved the trees that wouldnt grow to a different area and then transferred them back to the desired spot

This is what I did too! If you don’t mind TTing then I would move them to an empty spot (spread out) TT till they are grown and use fruit to move it back! C: I

love the design btw, very cute!

That's not accurate for this situation.
The trees don't grow here because there are too many trees growing in a small space. The placing and spacing in itself is fine though!

OP if you do grow them somewhere else and then move the it is going to be fine, I hade the same issue with my orchard.
