Why Roccoco?

Almost everyone who's played New Leaf for quite a while has noticed that the Nooklings feel the need to make a bulletin post about every time they've acquired a piece of the Roccoco series. But why? Its not like they're less common than any other series, they're orderable from the catalog and not that expensive. So why does the game want me to know that a furniture item of that specific series is available to buy?

Because Rococo is a spotlight series? (Exception for a few like the candlestick).

The rococo series (exclude the wallpaper and flooring) are spotlight items, and Timmy & Tommy always post a bulletin when a spotlight (rare) item is in stock. I've had T.I.Y. for a few days and almost always post daily about rococo pieces (though I have the full set from Spotpass homes).

They're considered "spotlight" items - I don't know what makes an item a spotlight item, but yeah, I see those bulletin posts from time to time, too. It's not just Rococo pieces, it's probably just a coincidence that you see them so much as I've only seen the chair spotlighted since I started playing.

I've also gotten the Unknown Machine as a spotlight item, but other than that all Roccoco.

What are spotlight items?

They are items that are "rare" because your T.I.Y or Emporium may have one in stock, if you are lucky. The rococo items aren't the only items that are on spotlight. You can also get one spotlight item by wishing on a star on a meteor shower.

I don't see what makes them rare, they are about as common as any other item I've seen.

What's common for you isn't the same for everyone else.
I've seen the striped wet suit once since June 9th. My friend has seen it so much she thought it was super common on club tortimer.

The Spotlight Items for Roccoco I've seen are just the bed and maybe the vanity or dresser. In my game those are rare. I've also on occasion seen, iirc, the Lunar Lander and the Rocket as "specials" from the Nooks.

They're rare because the only ways to get them are through them being spotlight items or from Wishy.
