If it would have grown, I would only have 7 bushes in the row. As of now I have 3, the dead one, and 3 more. I have a 4x4 orchard directly to the left, but that didn’t stop my other bushes from growing. Help!

Sometimes ACNL is wonky and things wont grow if its in the middle of something even though it looks fine? If its not that then it may be a "dead spot" in your town. All towns have 1 - 5 squares that are called "dead spots" where you cannot grow flowers, trees, or bushes yet pwp's and paths work there. ITS WEIRDSSSS

It shouldn't be a problem with the number of bushes in a row because you can have up to 12. It looks like some of your bushes were already planted first and then you tried to plant this one in the middle. While that also shouldn't be a problem, I have found that the game is finnicky some times when it comes to planting order. Other times it's not.

When I've run into this, it helped to dig up some of the bushes and replant them starting from the one that died and working my way towards the end. It's a pain to waste bushes like that, but I've found that method usually works for me.

Ok I went a lil crazy with TT…I ended up digging up the bushes above and below the dead one, replanting the dead one, letting it grow for a day and then replanting the ones above and below.

In other news, the same thing happened with my bush row on the other side of the path…I got the dead one to grow after digging up the TWO above AND BELOW (so needy tbh), I let the one that was dying thrive and grow for a day, and when I went to dig holes for the new starts…I dug up the one day old bush 😭😫

I had this problem & I think it was caused by the same thing in both cases. I found this very helpful youtube video that details tree & bush placement rules that I used to resolve the problem, so it might be worth taking a look at:

My guess is we both ran into rule 4 in this guide (too many trees / bushes in a 7x7 area).
