Why can't I get rid of fish?

How can I get rid of fish/bugs inside my villagers' houses? Or am I just stuck with a giant saw shark swimming smack in the middle of Rosie's house?

They will eventually ask for a replacement. If you send her a table or 2, or something via letter, she might change it.

The pics online of her house show a regal bed in the center. If that's her original bed, buy one, wrap it, and send it to her in a letter. I've had good luck with villagers putting their old stuff back where it is supposed to be when I send one a day as a present.

Yeah this seems to work. Whenever I see them selling things in retail I buy it and send it back to them as a gift c: they usually put it back where it belongs.

Not the case with Hans' vintage radio. He originally had it on top of his table, then when he bought it back from me, it was sitting on his fireplace.

It didn't work for Flora for the first time today. I gave her back her lovely vanity, and I gave her a shirt for her b-day, and she put the shirt where the vanity is supposed to be and the vanity where the game cabinet is supposed to be. Ah well.

what everyone else is saying, they'll usually replace it with some furniture around the same size!! i gave lopez a fruit basket to put on his table and he traded me back the blowfish that used to sit on top of it (strange reward but thanks anyway, lopez)
