Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! WHO'S Moving In?

I was pretty shocked this morning when I started wandering around my town and found a plot reserved for a new villager. I mean, I knew it was a possibility since I was only at eight villagers, but most of the time, I get to that point and no one moves in for, like, weeks. So I went over and read the sign on the plot: Cherry is moving in.
On the one hand, I am super excited about this because Cherry is my favorite uchi villager. I had her in my first save and have loved her ever since, but on the other hand, my old uchi villager Diva hasn't even asked to move yet. Diva hasn't even been in my town a full week yet, and she was really starting to grow on me. Overall, though, we weren't even close and I really don't think it's going to be too hard for me to let her go. I guess I'm just shocked.
Has something like this ever happened to you guys?

Cherry didn't want you to love anybody but her

I had Felicity surprise me with a move-in, and she's become one of my most favorites! I love her so much, and now, I don't want her to leave! She even gave me her picture yesterday! Most of my favorite villagers have just randomly moved in, actually... Interesting.

I did get Pashmina, one of the ones I was trying to reset for in my old town. This town, I'm not resetting for anything, nor can I anyway, as I have four player characters. So to have her move in as my first uchi was a nice surprise. Of course, if she ever pings, I'll have to let her go, as I want her plot for my campsite.
