Remember when you had two villagers, Resident Services was a tent, the flimsy tools at the wooden Nook’s Cranny..
And then, Resident Services upgraded and took the prologue soundtrack and all those memories away...
I miss the old times... ;-;

Yes. Starting a new a.c. game is always the best. I loved the anticipation of seeing who my first two villagers would be. I still have Shari and Kid Cat. I'll keep them forever. I do miss the music, and I've always been a fan of the rustic Nooks Cranny.

However, I still get excited with each new month and update. 😄

I didn't realized how much I missed those things until I visited my friend some time ago, who at that time just started to play. Tents, small Nook's Cranny, relaxing music, untamed wilderness on the other side of the river... Ah, good times.

I don't miss it, though I liked having a tent on the beach, even though it was cramped.

I loved the beginning of the game. I kept my character in a tent for almost a week because I didn’t want to lose the deserted island feeling. My two starting villagers got their houses first before I did.

I would have definitely enjoyed it if the initial state of things went on a bit longer. Even on enough for all ten villagers to be in tents! Then upgrade one by one, and have to get decor for all of them... I don't know, I just wish there was more to upgrading the island. But it's funny, I say that, and yet I can't imagine restarting my island all over.

I was thinking about this earlier! I do miss the very beginning. I wish the villagers stayed in their tents longer and didn't upgrade until you did. I wanted to have a grand tent island in the beginning. I was a bit sad when they got their houses before I did.

i miss it, too. at the time, gameplay felt so slow as there was only so much to do per day until certain features unlocked and being hella impatient, i hated that part lol. but looking back, i really appreciate the tutorial period; setting up tents and just getting to know my villagers + enjoying the beauty of the game was an incredible experience. i also loved having timmy/tommy walking around the island and i wish that he still would; having the npcs occasionally walking around the island would make them feel more real and less like pieces of a game, which would be nice.

i think despite how impatient i was, the tutorial was something that i really needed. a lot of people were most excited about terraforming and being able to place furniture outside and while i was very excited about that, after being on a hiatus for 2-3 years, the one thing that i really wanted to do was go fishing. i did a bit of that in pocket camp to try and hold me over until march but it wasn’t the same; i just wanted to go back to the basics and the tutorial allowed me to do that with ample time, which is something i’ll forever appreciate c’:

Ah definitely me. This is a little closer for me than I think it is for most people since I recently reset my island (over a month ago now, though -- at the start of September). I'd kind of expected to want to breeze through it as quickly as possible the second time around, and I did time travel to get all my buildings upgraded and to move villagers in, but I honestly had a ton of fun doing it. It just feels new and different and exciting.

I love my island now and don't think I'll be resetting again, and definitely can't justify another Switch and game just to start a new island. Sometimes it's fun to go through to the very start of threads like the "Share Your Island Map" and "Screenshots & Video Capture Hub" that have been around since the game came out to live vicariously through them; if you're feeling especially nostalgic, I'd recommend giving it a shot!

idk, i think it was too empty. i much prefer the way things are now and having more villagers, two were just too few to start with even though it makes sense from a storyline perspective. they got mad at you after talking like thrice, like i'm sorry but there are 6 living people on this island of which three don't really want to hang out so i have to talk to you ): ): ):

I don't miss it at all myself, actually. Like, I understand that it's the set-up for the game, we're dropped on a deserted island and all that, but, at the end of the day, I want to spend time with lots of fun animals, catch bugs, do some fishing, discover and build my village.

What I really miss is Main Street. Just a place that we can't really customize much but that'll always look good, where we can do our regular checks for fun stuff and add more shops as we attract new people of interest.

I do love the beginning when everything is "fresh" and you feel a sense of urgency to advance as fast as possible. Then you get kind of to where you wanna be, and things become a little more "maintenance" or tedious, because the big stuff is already accomplished. ^_^;

I love just starting out and figuring out where everything goes and what you want it to look like... part of me is super impatient and wants all of the shops set up and ready to go though!

I do say my theme would benefit a LOT more from the early-game aesthetic...however terraforming was needed so I had to progress.

I do really love the beginning stages of the game in these series. But the only thing I miss about the tutorial was seeing Timmy (tommy??) walking around outside with his little flag. It gave me hope that this game would let some NPCs roam around during off-hours or something. It was on my wish list for "new" NPC interactions that I wanted to see. All the little steps and celebrations to progress to terraforming were really enjoyable for me, but I'm not nostalgic enough to want to revisit it yet. I still have my starters from day 1 with me and I don't plan on letting them go (in fact, all 5 of my tutorial phase villagers are still with me and I only have 2 new villagers besides my original group) so there's not much I miss villager-wise either.

I've been thinking of terraforming my island back to its original map, scattering my villagers everywhere, taking away my fancy museum entrance, let the flowers go wild, etc. I might do it in 2021. I can always change it later, if I want. :)

I think the beginning and the idea was pretty cool, but I feel it dragged on too long. Locking the music behind progress was something I could never get behind either. There was a reason why tweets of the 'Retweet this (the tutorial music) to scare a non-time traveler' was making so much traction on twitter.

I do, and I don't. I like the theme of it just being you and two other villagers as well as the Nook trio.. but the fact that the whole thing is practically a tutorial ruins it for me. I don't really wanna go through another tutorial again, y'know?
