When someone says can I check out your shops?

I let them, but I wait anxiously to check and make sure they didn't put up any weird designs in Able Sisters that may infect my villagers. I know most people on this forum wouldn't do that but I still hold my breath. Do you let people visit your shops or is the risk too great?

I'm always too afraid to say 'no' and I don't usually mind anyway, but last time I did the person took FOREVER. They roamed my island for like a full half-hour when all I was expecting was a quick trade.

Didn't even get the item I was expecting, either lol

Tbh, I've never thought about the possibility of someone putting a design up in Ables. I always say yes because when I'm on someone else's island I often ask the same!

I will add that I often ask them in dm prior to arriving. That way they don't feel as pressured in the moment.

I always allow people to check my shops and get what they want. I suck at art, so I usually don't mind when people put a pattern up at the Able Sisters.

I've never even let strangers into my island before actually The paranoia is real with this one. But when my online friends come over, I let them visit whatever cuz I trust them to be good people! Also, I would never ask to visit a shop if we were only doing a quick trade. The only time I've asked to shop is when they were hosting a meteor shower and there were still people over and no one else waiting to get in. And I made it really quick and made sure to update as I bought so they still knew what I was up to. If I ever let people in, I'd expect the same.

My roommate already puts up hideous things in ables . I’d be upset if they did things without permission because if they’d just ask I’d say yes. Not asking is rude.

I don't mind, in fact if we didnt discuss it before hand, i ask shops? figuring since they're here they might as well unless they are in a hurry. I just am sure to buy the one time purchase items i want before anyone comes

maybe that's why when i visited this one island, the person checked back on me and went inside. i was just trying on and buying clothes but it takes time because you can only do it 1 by 1.

I usually only allow them if I know they're to be trusted. I've already had to deal with an awful design put up before that.. basically infected my villagers. Talk about an annoying thing to have to deal with, especially if you already have your dreamies.

Honestly I hope that Nintendo does a small change to that with the August update. Either to allow custom designs that are removed in Able sisters to permanently remove them from the villagers repertoire, or to make it so the host has to confirm if someone can put a design up.

i'm one of those people that always asks to look at peoples able sisters unless it's a super quick trade LOL

i only ever put my "designs" up on my close friends' islands. i promise i only ask because i have a cataloguing addiction and i love collecting all the summer clothes!! fair enough to people who say no though, i'd never hold that against anyone

I would just lead them to the shops and most likely follow them. I rarely do trades and when I do, I always suggest to go to their island and drop the stuff they need (then pick up what I need). I respect every other person's island so I make sure to follow their rules and usually just stay near the airport then go after my business is done. But when it comes to mine, I honestly don't trust people, let alone strangers wandering around.There's only one particular person on here, apart from my girlfriend and my daughter, that I wouldn't mind hanging around my island without limit or restriction (my 4th character is based off her so..) and that trust has been earned over the years. Not like someone I just met a while ago or a few days ago. I'm very overprotective of my island since I'm an ocd kind of person and everything is fully decorated. I also like to keep my villagers original. On the contrary, I would definitely not mind if I'm still very far in my progress or if I don't care about my villagers and mostly just have tons of flowers all around. I could easily fix anything through the use of time travelling.

I let visitors shop as long as they ask. I also follow them, although I only wait outside. I play alone, but I've done so many trades on my island. I think I've only ever had 2-3 people ask if they can check out my shops.

I have had players ask to visit the shops, and thankfully no one has ever put up a design. Most of the people here are lovely, so I never had an issue. Though if they do end up putting a design, surely there's a way to reverse it?

Unless I'm in a rush to turn the game off I say yes. I don't follow them or watch their activity.

I usually tell anyone i'm trading with in our pre-trade conversation where the shops are, and that they can feel free to visit them. I only really trade on this site now, and I'm pretty sure everyone I've traded with can be trusted. To be fair, I didn't even know this was a thing and I don't personally use custom designs on my villagers myself, so this wouldn't really affect me as much as some other people. I've had at least like 20+ people visit my shops and no one has done this so far though, so I don't think it's something to get too paranoid about (at least on this site). You can always ask people beforehand not to do this as well, if you really want to make sure and prevent it from happening.

ive let people go to my shops that werent planned. in the beginning it used to make me nervous but now i feel more at ease. plus sometimes when i go to trade i'll ask to permission to shop just to see what different items they have or if they are in a different season from me (ive already collected some cute winter stuff from SH islands)

I generally don't ask if I'm going to someone's island for a trade, unless I am looking for a specific item, in which case I'll ask in a DM beforehand. A good number of people have offered to let me shop/visit the NPC, which I appreciate, and I try to be as quick as I can.

I sometimes offer, though a lot of people will drop the item, say bye, and hurry into the airport before I have the chance - usually shopkeepers.

I have my two shops right at the entrance specifically for the purpose of making it easier for people to shop if they want or hosting for turnips or whatever, but my island has been such a mess that I have very rarely hosted and few people have asked to shop while trading. I always say yes. Thankfully nobody put any designs up! I didn't even realize that was possible.

I had no idea folks could put up custom designs in the Able Sisters' shop as well. I've only ever had IRL friends visit my island and I've traveled to other islands for cataloging, so I don't think this will ever be a big concern for me. Good to be aware of regardless.
