When picking a map, should villager houses matter?

I've just reset and have been debating keeping this map; however, the two circled houses in red are keeping me from really enjoying things since they're blocking off two major places (my house and retail) (I wasn't about to pick a new ideal house spot because of a villager house ^^; ) and it'd probably take a while to move them out..

The beach on the west side bothers me also, but I think that's just me being used to an east beach and I'll grow accustomed to it eventually.
Everything else is ideal for me: fruit, layout, everything.

Should I just stick with it and hope they move soon? Or keep on looking? . n .

If they are dreamies then I would have said hold onto them and swallow your disappointment, but since they are what I term "void - fodder" keep your map. It's a good map and the villagers will move.

Seconding this. Villagers are replaceable, but a map is (mostly) forever.

I actually don't mind any of the villagers currently there - its only the two house spots that bother me.
I guess the same answers apply to that though too.

yea, like other people said, unless you're planning to keep those villagers I don't think it should matter (one of my villagers was smack in front of my town hall when I started because I was dumb and didn't see it there when I chose the map lol....)

If you dont care about what starting villagers you get, I would keep resetting. Its not worth the hassle getting them to move out (:

That is surprisingly similar to my town map. I placed my house by the ocean on the far left below the river. I don't generally have a problem with villager house placement unless it is in a spot I'd like to put my house.

My starting houses are circled. Took me a few hours of resetting to get those houses isolated south of the river AND have town hall, retail, and the town tree together. Not my ideal map but still a good one! But yea this is my second toen. I reset my first mainly on villager placement and the hassle of getting people to move out (:

I think I might just deal for now. I spent 2 days resetting for a map and I don't feel up to trying anymore. :c

Villagers should never ever matter when map resetting.
You can always achieve them and plus you can plot reset for them.

Only reset if the villager is in the position of your mayor's house.

I agree with what most have said here; those villager houses are not worth resetting over if the rest of the town is nearly perfect for you.

When I picked out my map, I based it off of the locations of the town essentials such as the plaza, mayor's office, Re-Tail, etc. I wanted my town's plaza to be as central as possible and the mayor's office to be somewhere convenient/close to the plaza. These important, immovable features were critical and it was lucky that there was a map in the 5 to choose from that met all of these requirements.

Another, relative, factor to consider is if it looks good to you. I hope I could help you out! :D
