What's the point of Anonymous log in?

What's the point of having it if you can just click the "Users online" link and see that they're online

It's pointless. It guess it's beneficial for staff so they can linger around and stuff, but it's still useless

If they were to have signed in anon, it wouldn't show them up as being online. That's the whole point.
And yes, it does help for staff to do it. So that when people want to be spam/be stupid when staff aren't on, we are able to deal with it.

He most likely just came online that moment. He's looking at the forum index, so he had just come online.

Then what I'd say is that it's come down to an error on your end. Sock's said he wasn't anon and I've never seen him on it, so his word is good enough for me.
