What's the deal with Wii Fit?

As a gamer, I see it as a bunch of watered down games that involve balancing, squatting and standing on a board. As a human, I see it as an excuse not to go outside. The Wii Fit offers me nothing I can't do by myself and doesn't offer any better games than I already have. Why should anyone get the Wii fit?

I really am baffled by this Wii Fit. I mean, what is so great about it? I like the idea of using video games to get a person in shape but I don't see it doing much. Kids do burn more calories playing with the Wii than playing with a 360 or PS3. But, it's no substitute for the outside world.

I'm a little disgusted by this Wii Fit. Nintendo is trying to implement family into their games but the Wii Fit doesn't scream family to me as much as a bicycle ride, a basketball game, or a simple walk down the street does.

Admit it, you wouldn't buy this to have fun but to loose weight playing video games. And that's fine. Doing something necessary along with something you love is great! However, why the Wii Fit? Why not DDR or several other things built for this purpose? What does the Wii Fit give me that I don't already have? A place to put my hands for pushups? A place I can squat? I can do all those things with nothing but my body. Every night I actually do 75-100 push-ups not only because it's cheap but because it works.

Another thing that bothers me is that a lot of people will grow bored with this very quickly. The games aren't exactly, you know, great. If you couldn't maintain a workout before what would have you do it now?

If you are looking into this to loose weight, don't get it. Instead, get the family together and go outside for a walk or a bicycle ride. I don't care if you are to shy to go to the gym like me. That's no excuse; I still work out every day at home.

Im not saying the Wii Fit doesn't work and you won't enjoy it but the Wii Fit can not be compared to a family outdoor activity. Hell, what video game can be?

Why should anyone get the Wii Fit?

people buy it for the same reasons they buy a workout on video tape, one you can do it at home, two others don't see you do it, and three it offers a nonjudgmental person.. or thing I don't know what wii fit has the offers congratulations when you complete something which helps positively reinforce someone to keep it up. any way I am not get it, I have a pool I can go swim at in the university, despite the cold it is indoor ... and there is a hot tub... and a sauna.... and yeah it is just a very nice rec center.

It's because there's so many people gullible people in Japan. Nintendo doesn't make ANY western titles any more. They import crappy titles like Wii Fit and they sell outstandingly because people in America always want to loose weight, and now they can finally do it.

Nintendo has really failed this generation with their non-established franchises unlike Smash Bros, Super Mario, and Legend of Zelda. The hardware sucks so badly it's disgusting, and they will keep throwing out these stupid little gimmicks so that they can have a reason to keep the system alive and make money.

WOAH!

Quiet down, my man! I think Nintendo's doing a decent job with balancing soft/hardcore gaming. Disaster? Coming in 2008. King's Story? Yep. Wii Fit? OK... that's not for gamers. Why should we care?

It's been a year since the Wii launched... and it has blown away the Gamecube's TOTAL SALES in Japan. How can you say it "failed"?

The Wii is probably going to be one of the best consoles in history. I don't think anyone could argue against that. It pretty much is the link between the computer and the consoles.

I just don't like the whole idea of the Wii Fit and why people are buying it.
