As a gamer, I see it as a bunch of watered down games that involve balancing, squatting and standing on a board. As a human, I see it as an excuse not to go outside. The Wii Fit offers me nothing I can't do by myself and doesn't offer any better games than I already have. Why should anyone get the Wii fit?
I really am baffled by this Wii Fit. I mean, what is so great about it? I like the idea of using video games to get a person in shape but I don't see it doing much. Kids do burn more calories playing with the Wii than playing with a 360 or PS3. But, it's no substitute for the outside world.
I'm a little disgusted by this Wii Fit. Nintendo is trying to implement family into their games but the Wii Fit doesn't scream family to me as much as a bicycle ride, a basketball game, or a simple walk down the street does.
Admit it, you wouldn't buy this to have fun but to loose weight playing video games. And that's fine. Doing something necessary along with something you love is great! However, why the Wii Fit? Why not DDR or several other things built for this purpose? What does the Wii Fit give me that I don't already have? A place to put my hands for pushups? A place I can squat? I can do all those things with nothing but my body. Every night I actually do 75-100 push-ups not only because it's cheap but because it works.
Another thing that bothers me is that a lot of people will grow bored with this very quickly. The games aren't exactly, you know, great. If you couldn't maintain a workout before what would have you do it now?
If you are looking into this to loose weight, don't get it. Instead, get the family together and go outside for a walk or a bicycle ride. I don't care if you are to shy to go to the gym like me. That's no excuse; I still work out every day at home.
Im not saying the Wii Fit doesn't work and you won't enjoy it but the Wii Fit can not be compared to a family outdoor activity. Hell, what video game can be?
